Being incredibly picky about Zelda-themed shirts, I gotta say, this is the best, wearable design I've seen lately. Seen pieces that would have made decent/good fanart, but nothing I'd wear. This is just fun. And not overly blatant.

+1

I really appreciate that. Thanks so much for commenting and supporting the design.

Thanks! I wanted yo design it without including without including the real monster, so people could find the reference without being so obvious.

P.S. No cute animals were hurt in the design process this time

When I look at this I hear that music from the Star Trek when Spock and Kirk have to fight to the death.

perryju wrote:Yeah, sorry, I think the inaccuracy of the positioning of the little dipper is a bit too much for me to vote on it. Sorry.

No worries, thanks for commenting

I knew some people would be turned off by that, but when I was working on the composition I was trying to keep the galaxy portion from sinking too low on the shirt (into the stomach). I found that placing the little dipper higher and upside down (realistically) created another circle shape that pushed everything else downwards.

The current placement also seemed to get the the concept across easier, and I felt the design was really more about the imagery anyway... so sacrifices to the art gods had to be made...

Based on his posts here and in RandyOtter's design, I think Midgerock may have had a very liquid Friday.

Seems like this design should have more votes. It's pretty clever. Good color choices too.

Nice.... If anything, I'd suggest making the serrated edges of the knife-mutations larger or more obvious becaue you can't really tell that they're there unless you come in close.
Great job!

It's the eyes. They don't look transparent. It's like if Darth Vader were blind.

groverthehyper wrote:I have a friend with a framed print of this. Could it have been your work? Same color and everything. Though I have to say, every time I look at the print I think it would be good on woot.

Oh yes, that's also me. One of the first derbies I tried making art for was the "Cooking" derby. I came up with the idea right before that derby ended and didn't finish it until a week later because of all the tiny animals. That early version of this idea is the one your friend has. It was also 8 colors, which doesn't work on woot(and it had text which wasn't allowed for the "Cooking" derby either).

I was really happy when they announced this derby because it let me revisit the idea and completely redo and update it. =D

I know this is not the place to get into this, but I've held my tongue for long enough and really feel like you crossed a line here. I let it go when you shamelessly market sampled from my portfolio, and between you and your girlfriend copied over half my prints. You took my pricing, selling strategy, exactly copied my display- it has gotten to the point that I get complaints at every single convention that I have four tables with links to images of yours. In fact, you told me that my "help" caused you to more than double your sales at conventions (you're welcome). You can claim all you want that I have ripped you off, and since I have a "reputation" you can probably get away with it and have people believe you. But I couldn't have taken anything from you if I wanted to. 90% of what is in your portfolio at conventions was in mine first, and only ended up in yours after I told you what was popular for me. I'm not sure if you are delusional and actually believe what you said, or if you are just trying to take an unwarranted jab to try to tarnish my reputation just a little bit more.

You are a spectacular artist. I have the utmost respect for your talent and can only dream of being as good as you someday. I am shocked that you would stoop this low though. Maybe your ego has grown too big, and maybe internet rumors have just become solidified in your mind, but if you truly believe that I took this from you then I regret to inform you that this concept existed long before you came up with it, considering you took it directly from a well known video game. In my design I tried to do a twist on the popular concept of navi being annoying, taking it out of the setting of the game and applying it to everyday life. I don't think it oversteps any boundaries and certainly is as far from yours in concept as any two navi designs can be. I wish you the best of luck in your artistic endeavors, though I'm sure you don't need any of that to ensure your future success

I apologize to anyone who is just now tuning into this drama and wondering what's going on. Thanks to everyone for the kind words you have given on this design

Glad you like it !

Magical voting power is unlocked only when you have bought something from one of the Woot sites.

It keeps people from making dummy accounts to vote up formlessblob.jpg ten billion times.

Rumor is that it also keeps lake Woot, hidden far below Mt. Wooticus, brimming with yourmoney.jpg.
