Re: This was a triumph

My question is if I should by this or these cheese portal shirt for Christmas for my brother in law who actually worked on Portal 2. (My kids were so excited when Daddy finished the game last week and they saw their uncle in the credits)

So wait a sec, I'm assuming this scene takes place after the so called "World's Greatest Dad" sent a squadron of storm troopers to kill Luke's adopted parents?

Either way, I look forward to buying this shirt even though I'm not a dad.

Narfcake wrote:Well, she is, but by the numbers, Fable has done three meatbunnies in 136 weeks. That's hardly overdoing it.

OTOH, Ramy has done 15 designs with bunnies in 148 weeks. I haven't counted up his turtles, squirrels, grim reapers, or coffees yet, but they're probably up there in count too.

So, your argument is that because she's not as hackneyed as RamyB, she's A-ok? It's ok to do something that people don't like as long as someone else is doing it more often?

Re: Meatatarian

Fable's original carnivore bunny shirt had much less detail. The expressions of the rabbit's on this one are much better even though the idea is similar.

Re: Happy birthday

No, it's not funny. It's a drawing of poop. Oh, but wouldn't it be funny if you put a bow around it and put a birthday candle in it? No. Would a bunch of asparagus with a bow around it and a candle in it be funny? No. What's the difference? Well, gosh, you know, it's a turd. Please. There is nothing inherently funny about excrement.

The final result looks great! I think the little detail bits you added on the sausage was the right touch to blend it altogether.

norahilty wrote:It's cute and all, but I have to agree that it doesn't seem fog-worthy. I feel like just presenting anthropomorphic food doesn't really do justice to the theme "in the kitchen." I don't get "in the kitchen" at all from this. I get "I like cupcakes." Even if a previous comment hadn't given it away, I would have guessed this was a design sitting around waiting to be submitted, not something inspired by the derby itself.

And the frosting doesn't even bespeak Marilyn's hair. :P

Here is a link from my personal webpage:

Ramy and Seki have been known to rip off artists' concepts, including my own at anime cons. So I feel this should be brought to the attention of the community. Thanks.

Way to make yourself look like an epic tool. Your shirt looks nothing like Ramy's. Not to mention you've already stolen all your ideas from a video game anyway. You need a reality check.

I like to imagine that the duck seasoning makes quacking sounds when you sprinkle it... what would the rabbit seasoning sound like?

I once heard a rabbit squeal like a guinea pig. Not only did it shock the crap out of me but it makes me giggle every time I see a bunny. I would assume they'd be making this noise.

In my opinion, by far the best Mario-themed (potential) shirt I've seen on woot. It's simple yet fun.

Even if it doesn't print here, I'd be willing to buy it if you offer it somewhere else. I like it that much.

Good luck! We're all counting on you, other voters!

yanimator wrote:Hi, I am Kevin Yan, I am a freelance illustrator, and am also known as yanimator online and at anime conventions and blah blah blah...

Okay, I'll bite.

To start, I've already read other responses to your post, and I echo pretty much all of it.

At first, I thought you were just trolling. There's almost zero similarity between the two pieces. But assuming you're being serious, the whole pretense is absolutely laughable. At least Ramy's work is a genuine parody... yours is a tribute piece, at best.

I admit that your piece is pretty. The shading, rendering, and fine detail is astounding. But here's the thing: it's extremely boring and disjointed. If it's supposed to be yet another "Navi is annoying" piece, why the fluff does Link have a spaced-out bewildered expression on his face? There's no charm, no interest, nothing to really make me laugh. The whole thing is an emotionless waste.

While I didn't care for Ramy's Zelda-themed shirt enough to vote for it, at least it made me crack a smile when I saw Link's facial reaction.

TL;DR: Boo. You fail.
