Not a triumph - my most recent shirt order arrived this afternoon and the women's AA shirts are WAY too small for an adult woman. They are junior sizes. And they don't stretch much. So if you're super-skinny AND narrow in the shoulders and ribcage, you'll be fine with them; otherwise, don't buy American Apparel women's sizes. I have to try to remember this for us in the future.
The black women's AA L fits more like a women's S-M. I wear about a 10-12 (a women's M-L) and I could get into it but it was skin-tight and I could barely move in it. If it wasn't black and a little bit stretchy, it would have been unwearable. I got it for myself, to wear for Halloween, so I'm hesitant to send it back - might not get a replacement in time.
The grey (this Portal tee & a Nevermore tee that I got for myself to replace my old faded Nevermore tee) is even smaller. I held the grey and black up back-to-back; the grey is at least half an inch narrower across the shoulders. On top of this, the grey doesn't stretch as much as the black; in fact, it hardly stretches at all. This is a tee; it's supposed to give a little. I could just barely wiggle the grey one on; it was far too tight to wear (it hurt) and created bulges where there weren't any before.
The other tees in this order were men's Standard XL and looked about the normal size for those, although nobody has tried them on yet (they're for holiday gifts).
Very, very disappointed in the American Apparel women's tees.
tons o' screaming monkeys (yay!)
