Same here. Not a fan of the over used concepts that people think are original. That's the real definition of "irony."

A pretty awesome Mario shirt on the day Super Mario 3D Land is released.

The voters are awfully clever. :^)

If it was a Plants vs Zombie shirt, I'd buy it...

I got my two! I showed the picture to my 4 year old and asked him what it reminded him of. He immediately said what everything was (including fire flower, not just flower) and it reminded him of MARIO!!!! I had to get it then He said he wanted me to have one too so how could I complain with that LOL

Oh great ... first, it was the Foamy the Squirrel plushies. Now Woot's going to have to add the line "do not eat." to the tag too.

Is it that hard to find some real food?!

missmelis wrote:and could have been more, IMO, if everyone hadn't gone apeshit for Zelda references all of a sudden. I usually don't bother voicing my disappointment, though. I mean, the video game/pop culture shirts show up here on weekends because people vote for them. I can't help it if the majority of Derby voters get really excited about stuff that's not my cup of tea--and neither can Woot, really.

As people have mentioned mario 3d came out this week. And the newest Zelda releases at the end of the month. So it on peoples minds + nostalgia for a game franchise that is older than me = lots of votes.

That doesn't solve the problem of pop culture shirts dominating the derbies, but thanks for trying. Yes, you're right! I won't be buying one. That's the real equivalent to what you're wanting to say, I'm guessing? Don't like it, don't buy it? But just as some folks would like to have a Picard-a-day wootcloset, I'd like to see more of the original concept shirts make weekend slots again. I just wanted to make sure you understood it wasn't just those poor, crazy "normal" people who were tired of it, it was at least one nerdgirl, too.

Too bad this didn't print sooner. Just yesterday they had a 3D model in Times Square for the new Super Mario launch. I wish I would have known sooner. I totally would have been there!

Anyway, I'm going in for one.

You better be buying all three winners this coming weekend, then. No pop culture at all in this derby.

Thank you for the cultural clue.

Beauty (and originality/being clever, I suppose) is in the eye of the beholder!

Anyways, I'm stoked this printed! One of my favorite designs in the derby. Congrats. :D

I could just imagine a the commercial going something like this ...

Wake up feeling dead?
Well start your day off right with a bowlful of Super Mari-O's!, part of a complete breakfast!
After all, the world awaits! And there's a princess that needs saving too.

(Sorry, but Zelda/pancakes was the closest other shirt I could plug in that'd make sense here.)
