A few weeks ago I saw a lunar halo and it was beautiful! This reminds me of it.

I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason, this design is strangely appealing.

This totally reminds me of one of my favorite cartoons from childhood: Donald in Mathmagic Land (yes I was a total geek, even back then). Especially the part about the golden ratio.

I assumed at first glance it was using repeated golden ratios, to make a golden spiral for this picture but that would have been, er... irrational of me. (extra maths here)

Oh but wait, a Fibonacci spiral approximmates a golden spiral! (see box one scroll down on the RHS), so they are very hard to tell apart.

So, which is it? The title suggests a golden ratio which, as we know, is apparently the epitome of beauty. The Fibonacci spiral as a mere approximation wurely doesn't quite have those magical properties...

There should be a new math theorem such that

math = beauty

Yes, this had to print! I very much like how this deals with the golden ratio in nature in a metaphorical way rather than picking out literal examples. Very creative image.

Fibonacci spiral is a nice start. But if you look very closely, each tree branch is a fractal.

Wow.. for some who averaged a C minus in math throughout high schoool, this can be a bit confusing. I just spent an hour educating myself on Fibonacci and other related mathmatics linked to this shirt. Yeah, I want one now. It was a cool shirt before, but now it's even better..

Add me to the list, that's what I thought too. I blame my course genetics course on human developement I took in college.

Half of this shirt would probably be lost on me since I am not mathbrained, but I appreciate the pretty arty other half. :D
