Ugh. This is going to end up taking me forever to do. Ugh. This is another potentially girly design.

Anyway, I'm puttering around with the idea of someone so obsessed with awesome, shiny, material things and indulging in them that they eventually forget the simple pleasures of the sun or the grass and things even though they're right there. You know, because they're too busy buying stuff. When they realize it, those 'things' can't bring them comfort anymore. This is obviously a very loose WIP that doesn't have all the STUFF in it.

...I might be reaching a bit. I'll be sure to fall back on a mouse with too much cheese or something. :T

That looks like it will be great work of illustration, but it may not work on a t shirt since the meaning behind it may not be immediately readable.

I'd go with something that is more obvious, like you look at it and go "ah, that's funny..or cool..or something". I only know this from experience. I put a lot of thought into the meaning and detail of some of my first derby designs (not all of them, obviously), and I took all night drawing them only to get like... 80 something votes because they didn't read easily.

I'm not saying that only super-simple concepts are successful, it's just good to not get carried away with details

Someone do a gluttonous ninja design. I wanna see a certain derby poster blow a blood vessel in his cranium.

Yes! Love this idea. I think it would be funny to see a couple other normal twinkies standing around him giving him disapproving or concerning looks.

I whipped this up just now, haven't checked if someone's doing the same thing. (Someone probably is!) What do you think? I think the title should be "He liked berries before it was cool."

I went for a Mario World inspired design as well. But mine is targeting Yoshi.

The problem of adding "Too much Hot Sauce" to those delicious turtle shells is that you'll be laying Red Hot Glowing Eggs all night!

I think the ideas are different enough. Maybe change it so the supine hippo isn't in the same position in each.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's not at all similar. But even if it were -ethical issues aside- if it's not been done on a shirt specifically, it seems to be fair game.
Ripping anyone's idea off is not a honest thing to do, but I don't think that what you've done.

Here's my revamp of a favorite design- what would happen if a bar sponge decided not to simply clean the drips on the bar, but go after an entire drink.

Comments? Might this run afoul of the woot censors on alcohol designs? The design is called "Appletini overindulgence"

I think it's definitely a unique thought. "Sitting Hungry Hippos" isn't specific enough to be copying. Just make sure your colors don't match up similarly or it might seem like an homage to the comic.

Honestly I don't think I would have gotten it without your explanation. But I do think it's a good idea. Maybe it would become more legible if the "normal" sponge was stiff and square and a tad bit thicker, just so that it more resembles a real sponge. I didn't realize what it was at first. I think once you get that, you'll understand the whole image.

The bloated sponge is hilarious! Just kind of hard to recognize without a real sponge to compare it to.

I love Luigi's mustache! It makes it look like he's grinning a little, I don't know if you intended that, but it makes it funnier for me.

Thanks for the comments! Really helpful! I'll make the thin one a bunch more thick since it has to be clear it's a normal sponge. The other thing I was tempted to do was put the bloated sponge IN the glass, but the several sketches I did looked really forced.

That's so weird! When I read the new derby my first thought was the girl (Violet?) that blew up like a blueberry. But that's like a super nerd reference and I don't many people would remember why she blew up like that. Also, it was more greed than overindulgence. Yours is much better! And more easily understood, I think.

I just remembered what the thin sponge reminded me of: cheese! That's what confused me. I was like: "Too many Craft singles?"

I like this idea. Perhaps instead of the syrup, do chocolate bars?

Definitely go with the oompa loompa one. I got that one immediately and I think it's pretty funny and will get some votes for sure.
