hmmm...if we're waxing philosophical here, then the zombie has only one life really, two deaths, but one life.

I originally saw this shirt as homage to all the shirts that don't get reckoned, and I wondered why the raven was glowing.

Only problem I had is I thought the Phoenix was some sort of Pokemon and couldn't figure out which one had infinite lives.

I know its a different artist, but I think it would have been funnier if the zombie was eating a PBJ.

Ahhhhhh.... best shirt in a while for Woot.

This would have been an auto-buy for my son at $10. Three of his favourite things on one shirt!

At $12 for a kids shirt I'm torn- $10 was already way more than I normally spend for his shirts... may pass- but great shirt none-the-less.

Regarding the Doctor- do we know he is limited to 12 lives? I don't think it has ever been said there is a limit.

I really like the coloring on this shirt... but it bothers me that you can have "final totals" along with the infinity symbol.

I don't know why, but I thought that the final totals under each was the number of shirts made with that creature on it. I was all like, "I know there are way more than two zombie shirts in the world (there's a ton on Woot alone)," but then I was all, "oooooooooooooooh....I get it!"

I would have gone with Gandalf the White, since he actually died and came back, while Bond just faked his death.

Time Lords may not be limited to 13 lives. (or may still be)

From the Wiki:

The BBC's Series 4 FAQ suggests that now the Time Lord social order has been destroyed, the Doctor may be able to circumvent the limit on regenerations; it says: "Now that his people are gone, who knows? Time Lords used to have 13 lives." In Death of the Doctor (a 2010 The Sarah Jane Adventures serial), the Eleventh Doctor responds to a question from Clyde Langer by saying he can regenerate "507" times. Early news reports, before the episode was broadcast, suggested he would say there is no limit to the number of regenerations. Writer Russell T Davies explained in an interview with SFX that the line was not intended to be taken seriously and is instead a commentary. He insisted that the "thirteen lives" rule was too deeply entrenched in the viewer consciousness for his throwaway line to affect it.

Actually, the Doctor pales in comparison to The MASTER. He's regenerated all 12 times and has figured out how to come back (at least) four more times, totaling 17 lives (that we know of).

GitEmSteveDave wrote:I hate to quibble, but in reality, a Zombie has more than 2 lives. As Shane pointed out in The Walking Dead, a zombie can "survive" a wound, such as a bullet to the heart, that would kill a normal person. So you could fire 10 bullets into a zombie that would kill a person, yet the zombie would still keep walking.

Ok, gotta step in and defend. This is counting resurections. Not "How many times can you cheat death." Hahaha. So just because a Zombie doesn't die when you shoot him in the heart, the head, the BUTT, doesn't count as another life! He has to DIE then get back up for it to count. You understand? You quible for nothing my dear sir.

The Doctor should DEFFINATELY have been on there. But I dig zombies too, so it's ok.

As much as I love doctor who (big time fan here, Old & New), I'm glad that the Doctor isn't on the shirt. (I can't believe I said that, considering the vast amounts of Doctor Who on my walls and T-shirts and computer). I'm glad that they stuck to this theme. Throwing in the Doctor would have made me wonder why the pheonix was mushed in there.

I could have understood the Doctor and the cat, what with his love of cats expressed in many episodes.
The ninth Doctor in "The Empty Child" picks up and talks to a cat.
The tenth Doctor shows his appreciation for some kittens in the episode "Gridlock", (We'll just ignore the fact he said he wasn't a cat person in "Fear Her", men do that 'tough guy thing')
Not to mention that the eleventh Doctor spoke to a cat in "The Lodger" to get more information about what was going on in the house! And don't get me started on the Old stuff, there's so much cat stuff there too!

Now the sad thing? I remembered all of the instances that he had encounters with cats and had only to look up episode names.

So yes, I love Doctor Who, but am glad that he did not make an appearance on this shirt. Though reading the discussion about it all, was very enlightening.

Nope. Technically, Captain Harkness can't die (until millions of years later). He only has one life, one consciousness.

The master still wins. Mwa hahaha!

It would be amusing to have Dr. Who on the shirt, one could argue. But a character from one, stand-alone series in time is not on the same cultural level as a cat, phoenix and zombie (at least in terms of # of lives). The vast majority know about these three having more than one life. I would argue A LOT of that audience would be lost with adding Dr. Who. That might make the shirt more fun and unique to some but I actually like the simplicity of using more universal characters.

My two cents.

jodiwickman

quality posts: 0 Private Messages jodiwickman

Also, I have to agree with nayjd on the # of lives issue. Zombies come back to life once and you can kill them. It shouldn't matter what will/will not "take them out."
