A break in the clouds, looking down onto a brighter future.

The birds here are drawn accurately to scale and range from the Bee Hummingbird, with the world's smallest wingspan, to the trumpeter swan, biggest wingspan in North America, and all the way up to a glimpse of an Andean Condor with wings a mighty 12ft long. I like wings.

It's been awhile since I've watercolored, this takes me back...1 color on white. Hope you guys like.

The initial painting was the easy part. Doing the halftones was the Queen Bee of royal pains and I still don't know if they're acceptable. A lot of what I was trying to convey got 'solid'd up when I was working on this, but I hope it still reads all right. I like peacocks.

Anyone who has worked with water colors knows how (due to the nature of the medium) all the colors run and flow together.

While I don't want to narrow the meaning of the design too far, I will say that the theme is a convergence of nature and civilization. Water is flowing down through the city and falling down into the forest, yet the water fall is also a tree shape rising up... therefore both sides continue to pull and push towards one another.

First off, thanks to the woot staff and the panelist for picking out robby and I's shirt for the 2011 t-list awards. That was awesome!
I hope the halftones spec out ok on this design. This is a first for me taking on halftones this way. I hope you all enjoy the design.

I couldn't decide which animal or plant to paint so I tried something a bit different for the sake of entertaining myself. If it gets a few chuckles, I'll be content. Thanks for checking it out.

I submitted a similar design in a different style to threadless a long time ago I think this style suits the design better though.

6 colors on creme. It's my first photoshop halftone design. I hope to do this more often in the future.
