crazydoglady wrote:Hmmmm... looks like you've been wooting for years so you may have caught the other changes. The "sell-out" cap for debut-day shirts at $10 used to be 1000 shirts - after Woot sold 1000 shirts at the low price of $10 they posted a SOLD OUT and all shirts after that went for $15 ($2 of which goes to the artist). Then they raised the sell-out cap to 3000 still at $10, then a few months ago they raised it to 6000 - still at $10. And very quickly there were multiple sell-outs at the 6000 cap. So once you factor in the $1000 (I think that's right) paid to the artist for being a derby winner it becomes a matter of simple business math - 3000 shirts at $10 to create buzz is a workable business model, 6000 shirts at $10 not so much. BTW, there has already been a sell-out at the $12 rate so there are a lot of folks who don't share your view.

There was only one sellout and it was for a shirt with a design on the back, which is very unique to woot. Therefore wooters saw that and were excited for a woot back design shirt, same as when glow in the dark shirts pop up here and there on woot. I really dont think you can say that the vast majority of wooters don't mind being charged $12 just because there has been one $12 shirt that was a sellout.

I would love to die in this shirt just for the irony... except for that part about not being alive anymore.

Even a blind squirrel is right twice a day.

As an Emergency Medical Technician, I feel that this may be inappropriate work attire.

I believe the more accurate term is "respirating"

Not like I'm in the medical field or anything...ahem

Sorry to those who are upset by the shirt price increase but someone has to pay the $2 oxygen tax.
It seems I've tapped in to a new shirt market for people with respiratory conditions and those working in that field of medicine.

I agree, I was all set to buy that one! So bummed.

I need this shirt, for the sheer irony that I need a double-lung and heart transplant. Yeah.

I bought one of these for my son, who is 5 and has nasty asthma, and it really *is* an accomplishment that he's breathing without too much help these days. I'm sure it's in bad taste, but I if I don't laugh, I'll cry. So there.

PixelPants wrote:Woot took some of the best lines from my acceptance speech. I really do want to thank God as lungs are another of His great designs. Thanks to my family at home and interstate in Darwin for great input and encouragement, and the regular supporting artists and voters here in Wootland.

Sorry, but I had to point out the irony - a person claiming that lungs are one of God's great designs just happens to be from a place called Darwin. Good to know that people have an "evolved" sense of humor around here!

mikel135 wrote:to be more accurate

"respiring since the womb"

Actually, "respiring since birth" is accurate. A baby in the womb does not use its lungs to breathe. It gets its oxygen directly from its mother through the umbilical cord.

Back in September I went into the hospital for what ended up being diagnosed as Hamman-Rich Syndrome (aka Acute Interstitial Pneumonitis.)

Several doctors have told me I am lucky to be alive, so I'm buying this shirt for myself. I've earned it!

Alas, the wonderful shirt you bought is going to be no more. They're changing suppliers, NOT made in the USA, and with a different cut.
