If by "soon", you mean after I hit Woot shirt #500 ...

I think you should consider letting the black of the shirt show through on the eyes.

Mere moments until the derby opens, and I haven't been able to get a design idea out of my head. If I see a similar idea go up, I won't mention it again. If not, hmm...maybe I'll hit one you guys up with a rough sketch that you could take further?

Uh...I'm seeing a lot of Nyan Cat parodies. I thought that there were problems with copyright last time there was a Nyan Cat parody.

LOL, I managed to finish 4 designs. Though this looks to be a super tough derby. Not expecting much but here are my finals:

Is the 'no photographs' rule derby specific or is that a default?

Mavyn

quality posts: 22 Private Messages Mavyn

I think the no pics things is a normal woot limitation, not derby specific.

What's happening with the rejecteds? There were a few, and now...all gone. Even shirt.what is showing 'removed' but not rejected, and there are some that aren't showing at all.

I'm trying to figure out the rejection anomalies myself. There are some photos that are rejected and other that are not. Not that I care, I'm just trying to understand the rules.

Sorry, the 2nd part of my post was unrelated. There are some shirts in this derby that went up Friday, were showing rejected Sunday, and now are gone. They past the 24 hour 'artist can delete' time, but somehow are gone now. Strange.

In reference to the photo issue, the big concern is a)copyright. You have to prove that you own the rights to the image, and that can be difficult. And b) printing. Photographs are often not printable. So, if you want to create a design of your sink cat, the photo can be a reference, but you can't just slap it in on a template, reduce color and flatten--you'll end up with gradients and lines/dots too small to print.

My speech is not splitting. I am speaking in Cthulhu.

I have a question ...

Currently there are two Star Wars themed shirts sitting comfortably in the fog, and a third steadily rising to join them.

When next weekend arrives, if Woot then proceeds to print three "Darth-Vader-as-a-kitty-with-a-ball-of-string-Death-Star" shirts in the space of three days, will we finally see the "No Star Wars" rule become a more permanent fixture for the derbies?

I'd like to start seeing "no memes" as a derby rule.

Hmm I sort of doubt two of those will print seeing as one of the two in the fog kept dropping in and out and the other that's out of the fog is taking it's time to get in the fog... on the other hand I wouldn't mind the Star Wars ban being back now and then. At least while Star Wars is seeing an uptick because of the 3d release.

start with the derby entry page, read everything there for technical requirements for the electronic files to submit. for this week's derby, you only have half a day left or so to create and enter a design. derbies submission window closes every week at noon central time wednesday.
