I can't understand why people would think this is a pile of dead cats. The one on top is stretching, for heaven's sake! As the slave of two myself, I've seen this more times than I can count. Great design!

An amazingly original concept for something that's been overdone to death.

I laughed out loud, could not stop, and then started choking from laughter. My husband awoke, furrowed his brow, and asked if I had a hairball. I almost had to change the sheets after that. Guess I should not browse The Derby in bed. Lesson learned.

I really wasn't sure about the meme, but loved this shirt. I think the design stands entirely independent from the meme. But of course would be hilarious to those in the know.

I had to look at this for a while - it's a "my cat treed a bear" reference, isn't it? Or am I totally mistaken? I like the style and colors very much, but had some trouble figuring out the shape in the tree. GMV for pretties.

Yeah, you're right. Kitty treed a bear. I saw a photo like this once and have since wondered if it actually happens.

I loved this shirt the first time I saw it but didn't feel like I needed to comment.I just loved it in private. The beautiful artwork is a stand out and the warm cozy cuddly mama with her kittens is so sweet. I actually thought that one long comment was a friend of SG's and was joking him!I am a huge cat lover and this cozy kitty pile was my immediate favorite of the derby.

Thank you! The design is based on the day I found my cat. He was a stray, and he sat on my lap for hours, purring away!

I don't get the dead cat concern at all. Have you ever seen a group of kittens all sleeping on each other? And given a cats well known affinity for sleeping in patches of sunlight I think the joke here is very clear. The top kitten is clearly alive, sitting up and climbing/reaching, and IMO the bottom cat only has one eye open and isn't reaching very hard because cats are lazy, especially those who are napping in patches of sunlight. Anybody who's ever owned a cat has seen this lazy, not really trying, giving some minimal token effort reaching behavior, heh

I think from a distance it will just look like a pile of some indistinguishable anything, and when you get close enough to see cats and patch of sunlight it's obvious.

It's kinda like a Rorschach test, and you'll see what you want to see. :P You can't blame the artist or the design if you are seeing piles of corpses everywhere!
