Re: 1968: Y So Serious? (Resub)

1968: Batman (the TV series) ends its 3-year run, before decades of syndication.

Srsly.

(Resubbed because I flubbed the Design Detail file.)

the date looks a lot better like this. it was a good suggestion (can't remember who said it), and you did a good job following it. gmv.

Re: 1989: Insanity

Reworked to make the shapes more ambiguous and changed the silhouette to avoid a potential copyright issue.

Been dealing with a loss this week and let some of my angst out in this design- hope you guys enjoy.

Re: 1968: Food Was Cheap

Even though I'm not a fan of Big Macs, I like the shirt. I'd like it better if it more accurately represented a Big Mac; i.e. the bun in the middle of the mess.

I get it how it wouldn't flow with a jingle, but the representation bothers me :\

Re: 1985 - The Sparrow Escapes

ooop- this design is getting printed over on riptapparel Feburary 29, so has to come down from the derby. I'm sorry about that!

InfernoX wrote:Cuccos and Navi were not in the 80's games, just sayin'.

This was taken into consideration. I decided on the birth of the series over the singular game.

Bonus points if you know what the original 1986 rupee colors and denominations were and when cuccos made their first appearance.

@anemality, calebmitchell, nezzer: Thanks! Been trying to improve with halftones since they posted the tutorial in the halftone derby. =)

Maybe I'm slow...is this the NBC Peacock, or Dark Side of the Moon?
I like it either way...

Dark Side of the Moon came out in 73, and that bird totally dug it from track one.
I think the NBC Peacock goes back much earlier, from when NBC stood for National Peacock Hatchery.

So what is the shirt design now? Is it still Batman or just, er, blobs with a bat in the background?

It's ambiguously... unidentifiable now, unfortunately.

Re: 1989: Insanity

Ok, a little less ambiguity now :P Trying to find a delicate balance. I hope that woot won't find this to be an issue anymore, he doesn't even have bat ears anymore and the silhouette is broken up- I think this way the shapes are implied enough that they are understandable without stepping over any copyright lines. I don't think the joker's face was an issue in the first place either. Anyway, sorry to keep reposting, hope you guys like it.

So it's an implied Batman that's not really Batman? Why not just come up with a new idea or take a week off instead of almost-but-not-really break copyright? Maybe this 3rd time'll be a charm.

Well, Thechnically they debut in 1987's Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic... which was converted in Super Mario Bros 2 in 1988... still the origin is 1987.

Re: 1989: Insanity

It's still just Batman. No comment. No transformation. No satire. Most importantly, no fair use. You can't just draw someone else's IP and sell it because you want to. Even woot knows that.
