Speaking of smoke and stuff, I learned last night that Fritos chips are good fire starters, as well as cotton balls dunked in Vaseline. These are the fun things I learn in my spare time. Maybe everyone here knew all these things but I'm always excited to learn stuff like this, so I had a nice evening.
Good morning all! Anyone have anything exciting this weekend? I'm afraid to report I certainly do not- I have been coming and going all week. The biggest thing is going out to lunch*, laundry, and possibly getting a fish to entertain the cat.
* if the two people I am going with can get over the sickiness they've been fighting all week that is

Grey cat LOVES watching water and bubbles go through the tubing during water changes, but otherwise the fish tanks are ignored.
This weekend: quilt work, have about half of the fabric cut for the Hot Shot pattern. Will finish cutting and start sewing. No deadline for finishing it.
Also going to the Allentown Comicon tomorrow. Charles Dowd, who writes Lilith Dark will be there, woohoo! :D
Also going to see about getting the compost barrel thingy assembled and read about what goes in.
Plus the normal boring stuff of laundry and cleaning.

The Intern spends a strange amount of time staring out the back window (which faces an alley). While part of me thinks she'd be fascinated, the other part of me is worried because she loves water, and loves to play in the bathroom sink.
So I guess what I really need is a fish tank lid that latches securely.

They make those. If they can get to the top, my cats will drink out of fish tanks, but neither of these really like playing in water. I've had cats that LOVED water and still never went fishing...nor really spent much time watching the fish.
That said, if you're going to set up a tank and are new to the hobby, let me know if you'd like advice. Dougall and I have a couple tanks around. ;)

I'm inheriting a tank and some tank goodies from a friend (she's moving across country). I was also going to inherit her betta fish but it died, and since she's taking a break from fish (she travels a lot) for the moment I still get the fish stuff.
I suspect with her new place she just wants to upgrade to a much bigger tank when she gets all settled, which is also cool.
That said, while I'm sure she will probably convince me to head to Petco with her, get a new fish and fill my head with all sorts of information. I will likely not be able to remember everything and be asking for all sorts of advice!
I'm a little excited and fearful (kitty doesn't take to radical change well - she panicked at the Christmas tree for example) at the same time.

She's mentioned it, tho. Not what color, but still.

This is what I always think when anyone mentions getting hair done.

I have a staring dog and a meowing cat. How do they know if it is 5pm?
I've even tried to move feeding to 6 after the start of daylight savings time.
Then don't feed them until 6; they'll adapt.
Grumpy 'til the day I die.

I'm actually going to be changing my hairstyle next week--drastically shorter. Am tired of spending time fiddling with it.
