benjaminleebates wrote:Maybe i misunderstand, but I thought that the design for our shirt comp had to look like what gets printed, halftone and all. It's all up to what the wootiness decides; but I just hate the idea of a good design getting rejected on Monday afternoon, due to a technicality, that's all. I REALLY do like your design.

Thank you!

As I understand it, you do a halftone conversion for the Shirt Comp (which I did, including the close-up, so you can see the halftones in my conversion), but the instructions on the submission pages say:

Illustrator users, please submit your final art with gradients. We'll create the halftones on our end.

So, they make the halftone choices at Shirt.Woot from Illustrator files (which, are often at the smallest possible halftone)...

calebmitchell wrote:Honestly, I'm not sure that I would wear this shirt, just because I'm not sure that I could pull it off, but I'm going to give you my vote regardless. I feel like this is hands-down the best representation of the theme that I've seen so far, and the design and placement of the letters is really organic. Too many of the shirt designs so far just look like the word they're trying to spell, and then you notice it's composed of whatever that word is.

Personally, I would not be wanting to walk around wearing a shirt with one big letter plastered across the front of it. Your shirt, however, looks just like the word you're trying to represent - a panda bear - and it's not until you really starting looking at it that you realize that you've (quite subtely and cleverly, I might add) incorporated the word into the design. Kudos to you.

Anyhoo, sorry for the novel, but just thought I'd let you know how much I appreciated this design.

This.

You must have at least one purchase from any of the Woot sites in order to vote. Then, if you're logged in, there's an "I Want One" voting button on the top-left of the design under the artist's name.

The problem with this shirt is that I'd spend all day staring at my chest, basking in my own coolness...and I'm a lit major, which only makes it worse. A spectacular design.

This is amazing. It took me a moment to realize how the word was incorporated and as silly as it sounds, I just smiled when it clicked. You did an excellent job with this and I really hope more people take notice of this design and realize how wonderful it is. Great job!

It reads as a fancy font but was all done by hand...no fonts used. I think the fact that it's legible at distance is a big plus. And it still conveys the meaning through the styling.
