Re: A Little Victory - 'To a mouse'
Very fun design. Love the textures!
Re: Canis Major
Re: The Writer
nice work, walmazan!
Re: Miles to go Before I Sleep
No pop culture?
Re: Where The Sidewalk Ends
I really like the modifications you made to the original design.
Re: Air Quoth
I was dreading entries for this poem, but you managed an exceedingly clever take on it.
Re: April Rain Song, Langston Hughes
Very nicely done. Looks a little creepy though...
I can honestly say, I would buy this.
Re: Fire and Ice
Yours is way better than my design, so instead of uploading mine, I'm voting for yours.
Feeling horribly outclassed by some of the other work I'm seeing here in this, my first Derby. But... Well, here it is.

Thank you MissRebecca!

Aww shucks, thanks cdrewlow!
ChronoSquall14 wrote:This makes me think of a recent article that asked why everyone assumes Humpty Dumpty is an egg. I mean, he's portrayed that way, but it's never really said in the poem, is it?
I heard somewhere that it was originally a riddle, and the answer was "an egg." I can't prove it though.

teehee, I thought it was walmazan at first too!
Hey, we choose the same poem and concept. I'm glad you decided to submitted it
Edit: I read your comment after posting mine. Please don't feel that way. There's always room for improving and learning in each derby.
I know exactly how you feel, take a look at my profile at ShirtWhat. My first submissions weren't that good, but I didn't give up.
Hope to see you around
Re: Humpty's End
Just out of curiostiy, is the piece in the back suppose to be the king? Cause "All the king's horses and all the king's men..." It's not a big deal, I'm just wondering, especially since it looks more like a queen piece.
Wow. This is almost trippy. Very funky style, I dig it!
Re: There Was No Joy in Mudville
From "Casey at the Bat"
Re: A poem as lovely as lovely as a tree
I love the dimensional feel of this one... well done.
Re: The Lark Ascending
The Lark Ascending by George Meredith.
Re: bad morning
Based on the poem by Langston Hughes and my own general well-being as of late.
Re: Tell Tale
Very cool. Love the textures!
Great design and you get my vote, but the Tell-Tale Heart isn't a poem, it's a short story.
I wasn't going to upload this since it's the third of the same design (and certainly not the best) but I worked on it so I thought I'd throw it up anyway. I figure at least these contests will help me learn more about the design process.
Should've gone with something a little more obscure than one of obvious choices. Perhaps the man from Nantucket...
Re: RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER
I love to see cell shading! It makes me feel better.
Re: Fire and Ice - Robert Frost
Shut the front door. This looks so amazing. I find myself really looking forward to your entries every week now.

TRUE! nervous, very, very dreadfully nervous...
for this entry that is.

Re: Song At Sunset
I can dig it. I totally get a Casablanca Records vibe from this.
anemality wrote:Wow. This is almost trippy. Very funky style, I dig it!
WOW, impressive design. Very cool for
But it was written by a Poe...so it's like 75% there...
I have to agree .

well that's so nice! thank you. I actually think the same thing about another similar design. You should upload yours anyway. It might do better than you think, and you could learn something.
If you like Humpty in all his forms, check out this year's winner for Best Animated Short. I will warn you, my wife cried through the last 5 minutes.
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
A bit of trivia... the first pinball machine to have flippers was Humpty Dumpty by Gottlieb from 1947.

That piece is a rook.
LOVE this! Only potential downside is that from a distance, it looks kinda like a Portal design...
Re: ....On A Snowy Evening
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
The halftone took out some of the subtleties, because I did it backwards. It was pretty fun to draw, but the halftone part was not. >_<
Re: How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
