are you kidding me??? Miyazaki scenery tends to look almost real in most of the movies this looks like a normal cartoon you would see on Saturday morning.... about 20 years ago when they still had Saturday morning cartoons B^P

This would be so perfect to wear to tree planting events! My current tree planting event shirt is Giant Sequoia. That's right, I have a tree planting shirt.

I absolutely love this. I'm a sucker for bunny shirts already but this is amazing. I so hope this makes it to print.

Re: Open Your World

..beautiful image, but what i love most about the design is how it works so well where it's placed...as a shirt it gives the illusion that the wearer has a hole in his/her chest...that visual, combined with a picture of the world that takes its point of view from the depths of a cave, calls to mind all sorts of introspection...

That and what's going on with the girl's silhouette...looks a lil wonky. I love the concept though.

mrwednesday wrote:The design and execution are good save for the fact that you had to pander to the bunny crowd rather than use an animal that would actually be in an urban area. Really cheapens the design and detracts from the execution. It's pretty disappointing actually. At this stage you might as well have thrown in a penguin and a turtle for good measure.

Why can't a bunny live in an urban area. I see them fairly often in the urban sprawl we call Denver. I also saw them all over the place while I was in Phoenix 2 weeks ago. This design doesn't have to be NYC? You sound more like you dislike Patrick then anything else.

I have been reading these forums for a long time now but have never posted until now. Patrick, your design is amazing. Good luck in the derby!

No two trees the same, just as it should be. Really like the inventive shapes and colour scheme. Both your designs for this derby are quite different but both very effective.

I have to agree on this - the colors on the thumbnail are very sharp (for example, the highlights on the left side of the tree trunks), while on the shirt image they are fuzzy.

The thumbnail GMV before coming over here - I'm interested to know whether it's just a problem with using the template... which one are the shirts going to look like?

Please.......I'm from Denver. Rabbits are neither plentiful nor common in the city and any that might be are not all white cotton tails. This is a phenotype of bunny used primarily by ramy and copied by Patrick to pander to that crowd. It is clearly working but it's insulting to everyone to pretend it makes sense outside of that. Don't be so naive.

QFT - Citizen Coyote nailed it. This is so accurate!

Re: Lake

This thumbnail caught my eye - love the little deer - but looking at the overall picture, it looks like an eraser came through the middle. I'm not sure if that is what was intended? I wish there were a little bit of connection between the top and bottom elements of the design.

Re: Only Memories

wow, this makes my heart ache. i think it's one of the best designs/concepts conveyed in a derby. i interpret the application of the theme to this shirt as "appreciate what you have, or else..." definitely getting one if it prints

Don't forget there is a fox also on the tree;)

The girl is wonky, there are some 'non tree' animals because this is not realistic depiction of things but my own depiction of nature that hopefully gives you some emotion and makes you go out and enjoy the true beauty of nature!

inspektordogge wrote:This is really cool, but it might be out of the printable area, which is 16"x20". The landscape looks kinda bright for it being nighttime, have you tried making it all a bit darker, more subtle? Anyway, I really like this and especially like the way you handled the bottom edge. It looks way more natural than a gradient would. Welcome to shirt.woot!

Thanks inkspektordogge. I did take some liberties in coloring the landscape because I wanted the colors of arch to be vibrant and the mountains in the background to be apparent. Originally, I just had the arch, but it looked lonely.

Thanks for liking the bottom. I wanted to blend the bottom into the shirt, but didn't want a gradient, so I played around and came up with that idea.

Also my canvas was 16"x20", but when I put it on the woot template it seemed to go over the lines. I checked it a few times.

Thanks for the critique.

I think I would like this even better without the fox. Now it takes all the attention from the trees. But great design otherwise!

To me, it makes perfect sense : the rabbits are forced to live in the city, because there is simply no nature anymore (hence the title).

By the way, it reminds me of Mickey 3D's clip "Respire"

The actual print file looks closer, and possibly brighter, to the thumbnail version. I think what is going on is that in the comp the detail of the halftones (because they are so bright) are washing out the shirt colors...

so here is the link to a big version, I hope this helps.

Re: Rabbit of Red Rocks

The Rabbit (or is it hare) is great! I want to buy all the shirts that has realistic bunnies. Only nitpick to me is that this is so America centric. I would love to see forest version of this. And on different shirt color, not fan of beige shirts.
