Pretty much. That's four shirts now that arrived in three days for me now.

The only SnailPost that's gets here even faster are the ones from TeeFury (two days from shipping) ... but that's because they're only 40 miles away from me. Not that I buy much from them.

They probably sent out a lot of them for the random blanks. I'm actually more surprised about the lack of white blanks for women sizes ...

I was surprised - and disappointed - to see that last night, but I wonder if they generally had few women's white AA blanks sitting around. I know that white shirts engender concerns about stains in general, but women may have an extra concern about the transparency of white shirts. I wouldn't be surprised if white shirts sold particularly poorly in women's sizes, which might have meant a lower inventory to start. Plus, it also wouldn't surprise me that woot deliberately shed less-popular colors in the random AA blank sale: they could predict that they could use their stock of royal blue AA blanks on "Binge," but there are so few shirts submitted on white that the opportunity to shed the white blanks might have seemed less likely, compared to (say) royal blue.

My theory is they exhausted the women's white shirts with Playing Koi and Blossom (which was also the most-lady friendly in its debut week).

Not going to speak on behalf of all females, but that's the main reason why I tend to avoid white shirts. If there's a great design on it that'll make me less hesitant. There's also the issue of how a stark white shirt can look on someone, especially when you're as pale as Casper the ghost (like me).

while staining and being really pale are things that should concern me, i personally avoid white shirts so my backside doesn't end up looking like a blank movie screen. then again, i guess that's less of an issue for women who actually fit in the women's sizes.

Something I noticed with my recent orders ... the Walmazan shirt came in a Robbie Lee bag, the Apelad shirt came in a Walmazan bag, the Robbie Lee in a Spiritgreen bag, and the Spiritgreen in an Apelad bag. Would it have killed the shipping department to match them for the day?

Ya know, a few months ago I thought Nevermore was going down since it was bouncing in and out of the danger zone.... I felt its demise was near. Now I look and it's number 12. Is this thing spring loaded or what? I have 0 Nevermore shirts though I do have the hoodie. I admit it's a neat concept but I feel as though I have seen better more entertaining shirts come and go (Motivation, It Came Out of Nowhere, Acquired Taste). It must be the new comers keeping it alive because I just don't see the staying power among long time wooters.

I received another shirt via Kentucky Derby Pony Express: ordered during the woot-off hour on Tuesday and showed up today. When I opened the bag, I thought Woot had messed up and sent me a shirt on Anvil because it seemed HUGE. Completely forgot I'd ordered "Family Breakfast" in ML for a friend's birthday. (And ML isn't "huge;" it's just that my sense of scale is a bit off. For example, my friend's ML hangs down to my knees!)

(It's so soft. I wish I'd known: I would have ordered "Air Quoth" in MM or ML to wear as a nightshirt. Also, clearly I ordered "Family Breakfast" before the most recent issues came to light, but I've been waiting for a few months to order it during a woot-off sale, so I offer that in my defense.)

Once The Bird survived The Purge of the Veterans a couple of months ago, it really hasn't been in danger.

It's selling about as well as it ever has, it's just that there haven't been enough new shirts that sell well enough for long enough to push it down the list.

The DSR needed to survive was over 22 a couple of months ago, but it's been as low as 17 lately. A shirt that sells 19-20 per day is doing quite well these days.

It's interesting that the survival threshold started falling at about the same time Woot changed the shirt blanks...hmmmmmmm.

I was one who helped keep it in the top 20. I bought my first shirt 2 years ago and showed the site to my family. This classic was liked by ALL ages. Why? It is a design that combines the visual with the written/verbal. It needs no explanation (or catchy title that isn't on the shirt design most of the time). We tend not to buy Tees because we have many. When Nevermore was #21, the time for procastination was over.

Re: Nevermore... after four years, it's not going away. We had our chance to push it off during the holidays, but it survived. At this point I just accept that it's been kissed by fate and is a permanent resident.

A suggestion for the Derby: "experts" - people with significant experience doing a given task - tend to do it much faster than "novices." They not only execute the task more quickly, but they think about it more efficiently: they use their experience to "skip" steps of the thinking process, while novices need to think about every step individually. The current schedule/pace of the Derby gives a significant advantage to professional artists with experience thinking about Derby-type designs and executing the necessary artwork. If someone has a full-time job and can't start working on a Derby design until after 5PM (and needs to sleep Thursday night), they have very little time to conceive of a design, execute it, revise it, etc., before submitting it on Friday. Obviously, that would be easier for people with more experience (and easier still for professional artists who are able to schedule "Derby Designing" into their weekly work schedule).

Giving more than 24 hours' notice for the Derby theme would allow "novices" to compete on more level footing with "experts" by acknowledging that it takes them longer to do the same task and might level the playing field slightly, allowing newer/less experienced artists to be more competitive with the "big name" woot.artists. Of course, it might also give the "experts" more time to make even better designs!

I agree with the above quote.

We might also consider doing ONE derby for "amateurs"... those who have never had a shirt in a daily... this might even become an annual competition to showcase new talent.

For me... let's get off this subject.

(Lest I completely destroy my geek cred, I assumed at first glance that it was a paleontology joke, and never looked closer because it was on Anvil. Okay fine, more nerdy than geeky. But seriously, if there were a way to harness reddit to the AA cause, that would be powerful; I can't imagine it coming together, however.)
