cfdunbar wrote:My entry! I can finally add a comment too! I had to take it down and resub because of broken links. I hope everyone prior re-votes.

After looking through a few hours worth of NASA daily photos I found an interesting one of Saturn eclipsing the sun. It sparked the insiration I was looking for.

6 colors on black.

Glad you can finally post a description/make a comment!

Just whoa. Absolutely stunning. I really enjoy the unusual composition with the bar of sky. I would totally wear this shirt. The only thing is the telescope itself, it seems a little skewed. Or maybe the style is just a bit different. Either way I love it, awesome entry.

Thank you!

I already see I made a mistake on the Shirt-Comp file (that won't show up in the shirt). After purposely saying yesterday "This is AstroNOMY, not AstroLOGY" a dozen times, I typed the wrong title on the file, itself.

Please forgive me, as I DO know the difference...

Re: Storytelling

Most people don't realize how important the sky was to our ancient relatives. In addition to structuring their lives around the cycles of the sun and moon; they also built a culture around the stories developed from the identifiable star patterns in the sky. So many cultures used the same stars to tell their own personal stories. Our entry this week is an ode to that piece of cultural history.

Thank you.

The background is all random (from a mathematical filter), and the foreground was all done from scratch, using Illustrator brushes and tools. The Golden Mean commonly shows up in nature pics (there was a derby that had it as part of the theme last year, too, I believe) in various forms. And the alchemy symbols were all pulled from my college days, where I was a member of a Chemistry fraternity and delved into alchemical history...

Ah ok, that makes sense. I wasn't accusing you or anything, just thought i'd seen the foreground part before somewhere!

Got my vote though, i would buy this for sure :D
