Re: Not a Snowball's Chance...

thanks everyone!

@Caddywompus- thanks for bringing me some luck!

@elmosuperman- cheers, I like your take on the "Community Chest" design too.

@armydilly and Narfcake- could be either a fork or a trident, we all know that bunny is the devil.

@msj11- if woot still offered it, an orange AA shirt would be a perfect match!

@cptgone- thanks, I adjusted the kerning to better match the original card layout. It was bothering me too.

@wirdou- cheers, I made it one color to keep it close to the original and retro "Go to jail" card.

@chickendave -Carrying the "Get out of jail" card gets more positive vibes than carrying the "Go to jail" card. Glad you like it!

Oh come on, y'all, don't do this. I realize the high road isn't as amusing, but we can't encourage Ramy to mature as a person and an artist, and then pull [another] immature stunt like this.

I agree. Just the image itself is so very "You sunk my battleship!" that I think it would stand alone. The idea of matching the "loose lips sink ships" poster is nice, but I think just the image on its own is a winner/less cluttery.

I can't help but think Woot is a better place when we focus on the things we enjoy rather than the things we dislike or are bored by.

With that in mind, here are three entries I really liked this week:
Trivial Matters by kevlar51
War Games by fishbiscuits
Attack of the Dice by miguelsierra

Seriously? Grow up. This is pathetic. No one wants to come here to watch grown ups act like entitled 5 year olds. It's amazing how a discussion over a well founded issue has devolved into this. The derby isn't your soapbox, keep this in the forums. You have an issue with an artist, present your arguments like a normal adult in the appropriate place. Stop insulting artists who have worked hard to present designs for the derby by begging for attention with this garbage.

Re: War Games

I love the design with the text. I think it's an excellent, amusing allusion that works just as well with no prior knowledge of the prop. poster. It doesn't come off as cluttered at all. In fact, it's a perfect balance between giant image and quirky text. There's a strong Seussian feel to it, too, which I love. Definitely got my vote and a purchase if it prints here or elsewhere.

Seeeecrets: I used to always cheat when playing Battleship. I wouldn't put my battleship all the way down into the set, so that when someone called what should have been a hit, I could say "miss" and discreetly move the ship over a peg, unhit for a couple more turns. I never got caught, but I would also limit my cheats to only two or three movements per game. The regular ships were played uncheated. It made playing Battleship so much more exciting. Titillating, even.

I rose in rainy autumn and walked abroad in a shower of all my days.

Yeah, I built the thing in PhotoShop. Should have used .ai instead. That template with the shirt on it is a huge file in .psd, almost 120MB. So I gave .gif with one of the background colors (thumbnail) and a raw file with the transparency. Guess that's the one that ended up blanco.

Saving throw, anyone?

Speaking of two dimensional, the hat on the middle cat is lacking something that would make it feel like it is sitting more on the cat's head. Right now, the top hat looks like one of those old felt board cut outs or almost paper-doll like. It's too distracting to me. It's kind of an amusing idea actually, just the execution is lacking.

The problem is you can see the cat's ears behind and above the brim. Unless it's a baseball style hat, the brim should be covering the ears.

Hey? Who's to say I'm not hard working? This took me two hours. (well spent, I might add)
And to clarify my intentions- this has nothing to do with the conversation in the forums or with the content of Ramy's work.
I'm just sort of bugged by people waiting till thursday afternoon to see what is in the fog and then making an amalgam of several designs or copying another.
Same composition, same game but devoid of content. I know- it's nothing that would hold up in court, but it's a little shady all the same.
