Thank you sir.
Does anyone else get a chuckle out of the fact that when Narf posted "catch the numbers" the sale was actually already going?

bounty: thanks for grabbing numbers. I can't believe how many shirts sold in the few minutes between your numbers and the ones I grabbed: wow!
I'm thinking we should try some advanced analysis since we have 3 time points, and the close in about 20 minutes. See if we can reverse engineer better starting numbers.
the ones you have that are better than mine are the 3 that failed to open for me, you'll notice they have 11:48 Time stamps, where the rest are 11:37.

neuropsychosocial wrote:No. Well, slightly. I'm mostly still shaking my head at all this, including the fact that - as the sale started - I was emailing Narf to say that I could get the starting numbers; "hey, the shirt sale usually doesn't start before 1:00, right?"
When narfcake checks in and absolves us, I'll find this all funny. At the moment, I feel like I let him down and I can't get a chuckle out of that.
Thanks again, ramy!
I'm reminded of that post from about a few days back where the Evil Overlards [sup]TM[/sup] are looking for ways to chase off the old guard and destroy the Woot. @$#%$@# with our numbers by swapping the Woot-off time is a solid way to do that!

Either that, or you're really popular!
You use the Ramyb base set for these numbers?

neuropsychosocial wrote:Yup. I believe him that he pulled them within a minute of the sale starting; they're all lower than either of ours; and they're about in line with what I would expect when I compared them to narfcake's numbers from midnight, given that one would expect lower-than-normal sales between the start of a woot-off and lunchtime on the first day: regulars waiting for the possibility of a sale. Narf can decide what he wants to use, but I think ramy's numbers are probably very close.
I'm going to edit my post above with revised numbers.
Anyone reading this conversation between the two of us must be convinced that we're utterly insane. Heck, at this point, I'm convinced that we're utterly insane! We should collaborate on a study in RL one of these days.
Anyone who has bothered reading to this point who didn't already realize we were insane is obviously new, so let me say "Welcome! Cookies are on the left, you need to buy a shirt before you can vote in the Derby, and Reckoned shirts stop selling at 11:55, not midnight. Glad you could join us!"
Here's my numbers, with the variance from yours included. I used the MSR of the Woot-off to adjust the Ramyb numbers for the missed start time. It won't be perfect, but it should be about as close as we're likely to skore.
1. The Formula For Success -- 515 (22)
2. Relative Dimensions -- 165 (3)
3. Leonardo -- 145 (7)

I will never forget the day during my Sophmore year of college, while carrying 27 semester units, I told my grandmother I was pretty sure I'd gone crazy. she smiled and told me "I know hunny, we're all crazy, but at least it's the happy kind." I really miss that woman.

For an 11:32 start time on a woot-off shirt sale, I think we did okay! *high-fives bounty* *passes ramy a cupcake* *hides from narf* I think I need something to recover from this insanity... *decides on cheese curds for lunch* Oh, and I need to make up the two hours of work I haven't been doing!
Someone in the break room just nuked a plate of Fajita. I can SMELL that seasoned onion and peppers taunting me. Soooo hungry....
I knew mine were going to end up pre-adjustment, but I think at this point we leave it be. There's plenty of time to hash over which way things should have gone in two weeks when the minor variations start showing through. Need to go back and adjust my "Relative Shirt Rankings" Table to un-include the Woot-off numbers now. If it looks good tonight I may post it after the 'midnight' narf numbers.

I'm surprised When Knight Falls debuts in the danger zone. Such a cute idea, and well-executed!

It's not doing Poorly, but this has been a really good week all around. I think it's Woot-off numbers show the story, it sold, but less than anything else. That's how you get into the danger zone, sell less than everyone else.
