This shirt is so last year...

I'm thinking about buying one of these for my Mayan friend but he's still a bit touchy about the world not ending.

Good thing we are rid of that superstitious Mayan mumbo-jumbo of '12 and it onward to '13.. oh... ummm.. yeah, Happy 2013!

I want this shirt without the text. The Earth and Moon image is really cool, but I feel the mayan thing is gonna be way dated in just a few months.

It was actually dated years ago, as soon as it gained notoriety and was entirely debunked.

Yeah, I gotta admit, this shirt just displays huge ignorance about what the Mayan calendar meant. The Mayans never said the world was going to end, ever. I don't really understand the point of making a jab at currently living people who didn't predict anything even LIKE that, lol. I'm an anthropologist (and 1/4th Mayan!) so this kind of thing is always doubly irritating to me.

This shirt sucks for two reasons. The moon is orbiting the wrong direction, and the whole Mayan calendar craze was totally ignorant.

I would have bought this shirt if it had been available in time to get it for 12/21. As it was, I had to settle for a Monty Python "I'm Not Dead Yet" shirt to wear that day. Only one person commented on it, and that was to inform me that she'd heard there'd been a miscalculation and that the REAL apocalypse would be December 21st... THREE thousand twelve. Uh, yeah.

Maybe if it said "Earth 4 billion - 0 Apocalypse".

Curious as to if this shirt was designed before or after the 21st. Did Spirit decide to test fate or was this celebratory?

Thank you. The "Mayan Apocalypse" was entirely a mix of newagey and religious, mostly white people. who either wanted something to panic over, or to make other people panic and buy survival gear.

Same as all the other 70+ apocalypses that passed unbeventfully since i was born 42 years ago.

And all the ones before, and all the ones that haven't missed yet.

I think the shirt represents how one felt as we did the first time we heard the earth was going to end and we woke up the next day and it was still here. Granted I'm a few years older than you and the first time the world was going to end I didn't do my homework and had to explain that to my teacher the next day. Come on if the world was really going to end why would I spend my last few hours doing homework. (:

When I first heard of the Mayan prediction, it was worded as "the end of time" which could be interpreted as "the end of the current calendar."

Now we'll never know because the Spanish just had to come wipe them all out. Thanks a lot, Spain. :P

This shirt had a shelf life of one day and you are selling it over a week after that day. That's pretty bad.

This was exactly my thought!

"Mayan" is the language spoken by the Maya. "Maya" is the adjectival form of things relating to the Maya people or the noun identifying the people themselves. Therefore, I declare this shirt a mistake.

I agree. It seems like the past like 100 shirts have been all text shirts, which makes them much less witty. The best part about woot shirts is that they make people have to think before they get the reference.

This is an ignorant and idiQtic contribution to pop art. Did you know Mayas are real people? A significant portion of them live in poverty and work the land. And there were approximately ZERO Mayans (past or present) that thought the world was going to end, let alone were rooting for it.

To suggest that the Earth is winning some competition against the Mayans is racist and just plain stupid.

Wear this shirt: To tell the world you don't know the difference between "Maya" and "Mayans", and to advertise that you were too lazy to even read the wikipedia article on the calendar roll-over and/or have the reading comprehension of a 2nd grader.

The Maya. Your people are the Maya, not the Mayans. And that's also why I'm not getting this shirt. I'm okay with fun inaccuracies about the world ending, but the Mayan people are called the Maya. Not the Mayans.
