Did you know that, for dung beetles, the smell of freshly-laid elephant dung is the most intoxicating smell in the world? Elephant poo is like freshly-baked cookies for dung beetles. That’s because dung qua dung doesn’t necessarily smell bad, but our subjective perception of it makes it smell bad. Make sense?
Do you ever wonder what skunks smell like to other skunks? Like, maybe that scent is like a fine cologne for skunks, right? Wrong. Turns out that skunks smell just as bad too each other as they do to us. Science tells us so [citation needed].
Big whoop, you say. Yeah, big freaking whoop is right. That means that the life of a skunk is an infinite personal hell. It really makes you wonder about the benignity of the Universe.
