This shirt with a 42 on it means everything to me.
Oh, I get it. It's a Jethro Mullens reference, right? Yeah, you know! Jethro Mullens? One of most polarizing figures single-A minor league baseball has ever seen? You're seriously going to pretend you don't know who I'm talking about?
C'mon, surely you've heard the stories. Like how he used to play for two teams at the same time - the Grand Rapids Gators and the Muskegon Marauders? Except in Grand Rapids he went by his real name and wore the number 42 and in Muskegon he wore the number 24 and went by Mullenal Jethroski?
Or what about his collection of antique cars? That he acquired by selling home runs to fans? Except he had to pay the opposing pitcher to pitch it just right? So sometimes he'd have to sell a car just to pay for the pitch so that he could sell the home run and buy other antique cars?
Or how about the time when the police got a tip from a neighbor that something strange was afoot at the Mullens' house? And so they went over to find that he had a pool full of exotic fish and dolphins and even a baby whale?
Seriously?! You've never heard ANY of this stuff before? Okay, then what do you think's going on here? "It's a reference to a book," you say? Ha! Who would ever buy a shirt about a book?!
