Derby #172: Home for the Holidays

Hey, this Derby's over. When you're finished reliving past glories, check out what's going on in the Derby right now. It's probably even cooler. Or at least newer.

The leaves and the temperature are dropping, which means soon it'll be time to head back from school or wherever you were lucky enough to relocate yourself out of your hometown to, well, your hometown. Or wherever the highest concentration of people who love/are related to you is. So this week draw for us how it feels to head back home. Show us what you're super excited about, or maybe super not excited about, or even what you'll be missing since you can't go home. Maybe your design will just depict the hassle of flying home, although we're not sure how a layover shirt would fly. Or maybe it's going to be button-eyed animals celebrating a holiday in a tree hollow.

No Video Games.

No Star Wars.

No text.

The password is "packing peanuts."
A totally random rule from a totally random Woot staffer totally randomly-named Matthew.

But wait! There's more!

Lately a lot of artists are really pushing the limit with their fancy-schmancy halftones. That's great, really, but we also have to make sure the final art is actually printable or else it's kind of all for naught. We'll be running these rules for awhile in the Derbies so everyone sees them but these are the new de facto print requirements from here on out:

If you're using Photoshop, make certain that your halftones are at least 30 LPI for a full-size design at 300 DPI.

If you're using Illustrator, please submit your final art with gradients. We'll create the halftones on our end.

Each dot that makes up your halftone must be one solid color.

That's it. Good luck in the Derby, commit the new rules to memory, and start submitting shirts!
