Derby #33: Lyrics Illustrated

Inspired By "The Dark Side of the Moon"

This will be very difficult to print...oh, and is there a song called Dark Side of the Moon.

Rejected because: This will be very difficult to print...oh, and is there a song called Dark Side of the Moon.

From Pink Floyd's classic Dark Side of the Moon. I know they are speaking figuratively, but every time I hear the song this is what I picture.

We had a live traced moon printed for Halloween. You're completely right. It was probably the worst print job I've ever seen woot do.

I've actually been impressed by all the photos I've seen posted on the forums. My goal with this one is to have some areas print slightly darker than the shirt color and some slightly lighter, without worrying too much about how much distinction showed between the colors, except for that bright line along the edge. I was also curious to see how it aged as the shirt faded.

I don't know what "live traced" is, but I keep seeing it on the forums. Can someone explain?

I likes it. It might remind me more of pink floyd if you had a the light spectrum somewhere in the picture.

This has to be least inspired idea I've ever seen. A little google image search and a little dark contrast on photoshop and you've got yourself a t-shirt.

live trace is a feature of adobe illustrator that converts raster photos/artwork into vector lines and fills, and the results of a live trace are pretty easy to identify.

This derby is lyrics, not song title illustrated.

Wow, Taylort is right! I didn't believe him either, so I looked it up. The song is called Eclipse. Check out the track list on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Side-Moon-Pink-Floyd/dp/B000002U82

I confirmed this with my Pink Floyd-loving husband too.

The album was called Dark Side of the Moon, and there is a "Dark Side of the Moon" lyric, so I think the shirt designer was still ok calling that his inspiration. That wasn't the reason for rejection anyway.

I guess Woot didn't get the point of this T-shirt. I intended for the moon to be barely legible, so when the say it would be difficult to print, that is irrelevant. It is the white line that shows the "Eclipse" that was important, the rest was supposed to be black on black sort of like the cover of the black album by metallica. It is funny, because this shirt did get a lot of votes early on, but even though a lot of people might have liked it, apparently there are still many people who can be very negative.

Think I'm going to sit out a week, but maybe I can come up with something that will make everyone happy after that.
