Re: Inspired by Code Monkey (resubmit)

Code Monkey go to job!

This shirt is inspired by geek rocker Jonathan Coulton and his rock anthem for cubicle monkeys everywhere. Go hear his most awesome of music at jonathancoulton.com. And you've got to respect anyone who releases all of his work through creative commons, right?

Resub due to inadvertent use of text through binary. Thanks for everyone's support the first time 'round.

6 colors on navy - please vote! Thanks!!

This resub is probably better for you, then; but for us actual codemonkeys, the previous version was much better. I wish the rule had been "no lyrics, band names, song names, etc." instead of just "no text."

i absolutely agree with you, i was really disappointed that i forgot the no text rule on the first sub and had to remove the binary background element... it added nice subtle cutouts that i just couldn't replicate with solid fills and really hammered home the code monkey point.

of course if i would have been able to use text, there probably would have been something really pushing the boundaries of taste - perhaps "10 getup; 20 goto job" or some such nonsense.

Awesome shirt, it feels really unified and complete. gmv

10 Get Up
20 Get Coffee
30 Goto Job

Debugged that for you....

Maybe if this doesn't win you could resub it into a future contest, since it's an awesome design but the binary would just clinch it... especially if the binary actually *said* something.

And technically, it's *numbers*, not text, since it doesn't translate into ASCII.

Love the code monkey. Would happily buy for .com friends. Hope to see it in another place if it doesn't win here.

(Voted for the re-sub too. Shame about the binary as text thing.)

hypo11: thanks for the help on that, my basic is rusty and i've given up on coffee.

diginova and bryozoan: i agree, i think the binary looked better in my original sub, but even some shirts with sort-of-textish symbols are are being rejected. qnd yes, i definitely plan to do something else later on with this if it doesn't place.

Love it. Would definitely pick one up here or elsewhere if it's not available through Woot. Could see my coding buddies getting in on the action for this one. Great shirt, like the resub better actually.

Crambe repetita.

The problem is that too few people know of JC's work. Too bad, I would buy this shirt in a heartbeat... as would a few of my friends

Just went back to look at original sub and I definitely like it w/ the binary better, but you did an excellent job of reworking the background. Very well done.

gah, now I have to vote for this one! This contest has been great for discovering new songs. I was going to limit my vote to the underdog (so cute!! and I loved that song as kid, yeah, I'm old and I don't care) but now I have to vote for this one too. I know a lot of people who can relate to this song. I want this T Shirt!

Re: Inspired by Code Monkey (resubmit)

send the design to JC if it doesn't win here... he makes like 10% of his income from T-Shirt/merch sales... if people like it as much here I'm sure he could offload a TON of them on his own site..

Better than nothing... and then JC gets some $$$ for creating a kickass song

If you find another venue to make prints of this design or the one with Binary let me know. I keep hoping it will show up in the 2nd chance derby!
