Re: Inspired By Standing outside a broken phonebooth..

Jan lays down and wrestles in her sleep
Moonlight spills on comic books
And superstars in magazines
An old friend calls and tells us where to meet
Her plane takes off from Baltimore
And touches down on Bourbon street

We sit outside and argue all night long
About a god we've never seen
But never fails to side with me
Sunday comes and all the papers say
Ma Teresa's joined the mob
And happy with her full time job

Am I alive or thoughts that drift away?
Does summer come for everyone?
Can humans do what prophets say?
If I die before I learn to speak
Can money pay for all the days I lived awake
But half asleep?

A life is time, they teach you growing up
The seconds ticking killed us all
A million years before the fall
You ride the waves and don't ask where they go
You swim like lions through the crest
And bathe yourself in zebra flesh

I've been downhearted baby
Ever since the day we met

Great lyrics! This design totally fits them!

Really, is it THAT hard, with a song based solely on hypotheticals and imagery, to find something to draw based on the lyrics (as the derby asks) and not the title (which isn't in the lyrics even vaguely)?

The person who titled the song can title his song however he wants. The person who is entering a shirt contest where entries should be based on song lyrics should make his or her entries based on song lyrics. There are more than enough songs in this derby where the illustration doesn't scratch deeper than the title. The fact that the title doesn't even relate to the LYRICS, which is what the derby requires of you, means this shirt is rejectobait. I hope you enjoyed wasting your time.

I'm glad my measly 10 votes is worth your time and effort to get it rejected... I didnt know you cared so deeply.. However, if you'd scratch a little deeper then your own backside, you might understand that the title relates more deeply to the lyrics then is readily apparent.

And btw... the derby states "Illustrate a choice line, or verse, or more." this clearly falls under the "more" catagory
