Thanks 'tag. I had high hopes for this one, I'm not sure where I went wrong with it. Not enough detail, only one color? Anybody have an idea how this could be improved? I was thinking maybe "Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright" might be a good one to do with the tiger idea if I redo it. Not sure if it's worth it though.

TIGER!!! I need one. I have an unhealthy obsession with tigers. Tattoo, screen saver, child, etc.

You named your child "Tiger?"

Or was there some kind of mix-up with the stork? :-)

Went wrong? Just because it isn't fogged? I still think it looks great.

Thanks eHalcyon. Yeah it's actually picked up a bit in the last couple of hours. Got my fingers crossed it will keep it up....

I don't have a child. But if I did, it would be a tiger, not a human.

That would take some serious genetic engineering...

or like in vitro or something. ;-)

Who says you need to resub to do a Blake tiger?? I would campaign hard among friends and family to get that thing some votes. And maybe even...tyger with a y, like our man originally wrote?

It's possible that people are reacting to the fact that one of the original versions of this children's rhyme was "eeny meeny miny moe, catch a n****r by the toe" and can then be construed as racist.
I know you're not being racist at all--don't get me wrong! I just know the history of the rhyme since I did a paper on the whole "changes of oral tradition" theme, and people tend to shy away from anything that might be even *barely* construed as racist by the furthest possible stretch of the imagination...

BTW the colors are great, the tiger shape is great...I LOVE the Blake poem idea, though--it might be worth it!

as a lit geek, i'd dig a Blake version (i think tgentry would do it great justice) - not to mention my professor this semester is a complete Blakeophile. but two versions of a similar design could split the votes & hurt his chances of getting printed... but then again there's two ravens in the fog, so what do i know?
tough call, wouldn't want to advise you either way, tgentry, as i hope this or your other possible version gets printed (i'm sure i'd vote for & buy Blake, if that helps) - but would feel bad if they didn't. guess it's always a roll of the dice with a resubmission or alternate version. you probably know best, go with your gut. best of luck.

Re: Eeeny Meeny Miney Moe

i do like this version a lot as is - GMV and $10 if it prints. the tiger is well shaped and defined, and glad it's orange on black vs. black on orange. i really appreciate the subtle design elements: the use of the quotation marks for ears & tuft of his tail, the period on the tiger's toe, how the text reads one way on the legs on one side of his body and the other way on the other side, the "E" makes a great jaw.
damn, i really like this shirt the more i examine it!
c'mon people, VOTE for this kick @ss TIGER!!

Hmmm.. I've never heard this version. I grew up with "catch a monkey by the toe".

I believe that "tiger" was the original version. The nursery rhyme is English; the N-word is American, and earlier known versions of the poem don't have the N-word in it.

Personally, I didn't even know that there was a racist version to this rhyme until someone mentioned that this shirt might be controversial. Maybe it's because I'm Canadian.

This is the only shirt I will buy out of this whole derby. If it does not get printed, I will have $10 more to... I have no idea what I will do with the $10, but nevertheless...

Wow, thanks for all the great support on this design. It's really picked up after a slow start. If you're on the fence about voting for it, just remember how great orange on black looks...

Seriously, this design is clever, quotes something we all know, is simple and elegant... great job, be proud even if it doesn't fog...

Re: Eeeny Meeny Miney Moe

many great childhood memories of using this version of the rhyme to pick who was going to be "it" for kick-the-can. the best part was you could always pick the person ya wanted but make it look like chance... just had to know how many people in the mix and where to start

I think this is definitely the most well constructed and has the best colors of any entries of this type (except my sister's raven of course ). It's probably hindered by its perceived childishness.
