Re: Blue Birds in Nest

The birds both spell 'Bird". And a variety of text "Nest"s make up the bird nest.

Just wanted to point out that the beak on the right bird is the 'dot' on the 'i' of the word bird.

Similarly the crown on the leftmost bird is the dot on its "i" in bird.

Thanks Narkus and Ken! I tried to get that random twig look of the nest.

Being from Indiana I would have liked to see the cardinal one too. I can understand though that you didn't want to split votes.

Thanks! I thought about posting both the bluebird and the cardinal. But wasn't sure if it would do the design a disservice by splitting votes. If you are interested in the cardinal one send me a PM and I'll let you know if I decide to print it elsewhere.

Thanks!

I like how each bird is formed differently with the same letters, rather than just copy-and-pasted. I liked the red ones better though. Not sure why.

Excellent work either way.

Hey Thanks eHalcyon! I appreciate it! I did the red ones first. But, they looked too much like cardinals and would probably be considered more of a winter bird, so I decided to first upload the blue ones as they looked more like a Spring BlueJay.

After careful consideration, I believe I like this design the best out of your entries for this derby. I like the others, too, but this one juuuuuuuust that much more. I'd buy all of them, though, if they swept the derby.

Thanks Parker! Glad you like the design. It's a tough week this week. I'm actually surprised at the disparity in votes this week. Usually the ones in the top 10 are closer together. But, there's already a huge disparity from 5th to 6th place. Looks like the ones in the fog are truly untouchable. The top four and James' Pi are really high in vote totals for it only being Sunday. Anyone else think the numbers are really high for the top 5 for it only being Sunday?

I does seem high - but every week, more people learn about woot, so it may be that more people are eligible to vote.
Keep in mind that we really don't know the #s for the fog; when shirts bounce in and out, SDS has trouble with the estimation tool. Don't know that that's a factor yet, but the tool is still only a few months old, and we should take those #s with a grain of salt.

Hey MJC-
I wasn't actually looking at SDS. I was comparing the actual numbers for 5th and 6th place. 5th has a huge number of votes so the fogged ones have to be higher than that. And, the disparity between 5th and 6th is quite large. I don't recall seeing such a gap in previous derbies. This would make you think that it's a fight among the top 5 instead of a larger number in the top 10. To me this is unusual so early in the derby.

Come on all! 150 votes a day until the end of the derby. We can do it!

Just a quick word of thanks to all that voted on my entries this week. Looking forward to the new theme. We'll be traveling for a few weeks, but maybe I can get an entry in while 'on the road'.
