Re: Leonardo da Vinci's Handwriting

Leonardo da Vinci is well known for his drawings and inventions. Many of his drawings have been made into shirts, posters, etc, but often times the handwriting itself is left off. Leonardo wrote in a very unique way. He wrote in his own shorthand from right to left, instead of how Italian is typically written from left to right. I thought a self portrait of Leonardo using his unique handwriting style would make a beautiful shirt. I hope some of you agree.

I think this is beautiful, and has an exceptional amount of potential. I'm afraid that the printing process won't do justice to the handwriting, though, and it will look like blobs. I'll give you my vote, anyway.

Thanks. I think the details should be printable. However, if not every handwritten detail shows up, I think it might just give it a bit of a distressed look similar to his original drawings, so I think the shirt would still turn out well.

I can't say that word that starts with "s" and ends with "exy"?! Some of these filters... But yea, I was kidding, I actually think the shirt is quite awesome and the man behind it is very desirable I might add.

Re: Leonardo da Vinci's Handwriting

Great job Bluchez. I was working on a Da Vinci piece yesterday morning, but I couldn't get it the way I wanted. Yours however, Is wonderful.

Thanks. It has been runnin very good so far. I hope it makes it up near the top. Breakin through the top set is going to be pretty unlikely, but a high place is good enough for me.

Thanks for the compliments on my Vitruvian Man. The concept of yours is great, especially the use of da Vinci's actual handwriting. How did you get this text into the design? Is it a font style? Did you scan it in? Anyways, good job.

You know, there are a few designs in this derby I really like, but nothing I've actually considered worthy of my Canadian dollar. "Going Bananas" is still my favourite, but I wouldn't have bought it if it had placed. I think I would have gotten this one though. It really is an impressive shirt.

It is meticulously separated from the background of some of his other sketches and just repeated, basically. No font or anything, just careful separation of the writing from the distressed and shaded paper, copy, paste, etc. I don't speak a bit of Italian, much less backwards shorthand Italian, so it probably says some awful things.

Glad we could get at least 2 good da vinci designs in here, even if neither will make it to print.

Thank you very much. It makes me very happy to have a comment like this, especially with all the great entries (not talking about the top entries, necessarily, but there is definitely quality in the ranks). Thanks again.

I do want to say, for the record, that this is ultimately a rehashing of Leonardo's own artwork and writing, and not necessarily my own, so I do not deserve much of the credit. But I still appreciate all the kind words. In this particular instance, I would be happy to donate any winnings to a museum or other charity because I do feel this way.
