I just don't see greed here. The saying is expressing hunger, not greed. There's a difference between gluttony as seen in The Meaning of Life and hunger as in "I was so hungry I could eat a horse." I just think this design is an attempt to wedge a cool idea that doesn't quite fit the topic into the topic.

Oh, and anacondas (or is it boas?) often will eat deer, as I understand it, in their native habitat, so a horse isn't really out of the question.

I checked with the derby runner through email and he said it was ok.

Looks like being greedy to me. Seems to fit the topic. And does it really matter what type of snake this is.
Great Job IMO!

Well there is always next year....

Is this really a navy blue shirt? maybe my monitor is off bc it looks black...

There are 10 types of people: those who know binary, and those who don't.

I'm not sure if you've seen a navy Woot shirt in person, but yeah, it's really dark and almost looks black. Usually the navy shirt comps on Woot show the color as much lighter than it really is. This would be a closer interpretation of the actual color.

(I can tell on my monitor that's it's dark navy and not black...)

Wow, another dark shirt with an animal on it will prob win. It will be like the last derby, and the derby before that, and the derby before that...........and the derby before that.

I like the way the bones wrap around three dimensionally. Very well done. Cool colors too.

Yeah definitely gluttony. Unless the snake is being greedy by not sharing the horse with other snakes?

It reminds me of an illustration from the book "The Little Prince", where he's talking about a hat, a snake, and an elephant. (I'm not saying he copied this obscure idea, btw.)

(pardon the name of the weird website i took this from.)

I thought the exact same thing.

For those who do not recognize the reference, it has to do with a page in the book "The Little Prince" where a boy draws a snake eating an elephant, and the author thought it was a hat.

This is perfect. The perfect analogy for your average, tub o' butter, gluttonous American. I hope this one wins, I hate having to wait to buy cool woot shirts.

I hope the future of health care is my pants are too tight! robot nurses.

@micromarcie -- i'm not sure if this qualified as obscure, as it is one of the top 50 best-selling books, just underneath quite a few religious texts and Tolkien and a few miscellania. I think the shirt stands on its own though -- whether it was inspired by the book or not. Certainly not a copy.

@mjc613 -- just a clarification, the author drew the elephant in the snake as a child, his parents (and other grown-ups) thought it was a hat. Not to be nitpicky, but that does make the context significantly different.
