Re: 1982: Thriller

1982 was the year of Michael Jackson's "Thriller." The hauntingly fun music video is still etched in everyone's minds. For a trip down memory lane, take a look:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjWcp2S411I

I present the world-famous ghoulish dance in glorious "pixel-mation" on an Asphault tee. This was really fun to design and I hope you like it!

Not to get technical or anything, but the Thriller Video premiered on Dec 2, 1983.

The one that makes me laugh is the 2nd row, 2nd from the left - I dunno why, but that position is just funny.

Funny shirt - I like it.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that (or looked it up). But, I do remember that this year was thriller's big 25th anniversary.

If only they allowed more than 6 colors - each progressive dancer could get inexplicably lighter.

The album was released November 30th, 1982, so this still works. And still is awesome! (80's lingo, yo)

I know no one would ever resub a fogged entry, but I wish this had only one row of MJ. It's a great concept and a cool implementation, it just feels like too much of a good thing.

However, since it looks like I'm in the minority, ignore me. ;)

I kinda agree with you mia3mom. I like the idea of one or two rows of dancing digitized zombie michael jacksons. Still this shirt is pretty awesome. GMV.

I'm sorry but this shirt is very hard on the eyes. Yes, Thriller was a great video and album but this design does not make a good shirt IMHO. I don't think it would print very well either.

Jenny, Woot gives the designers a very limited choice of colors to work with, that's why.

once again wooters are voting for an idea rather than a shirt. it's really amazing how often this happens - a good idea is poorly executed and still gets a ton of votes...most recent example being the blue box tree. Great idea, terrible execution.

This is almost indecipherable and will look awful if it actually gets printed. I love the idea, but the execution is just bad bad bad...jam on it.

Well it was recorded in 1981 by Epic Records ;P so 1981 (recorded), 1982 (album), 1983 (video), 2008 (25th anniversary? =p)

Love the yellow eyes...I too was born in 1982 and used to watch this video over and over (had it on VHS). It used to scare me when his eyes turned to yellow! lol. GMV!

I composed the Zombie Jacksons in a pixel editor called Pixen for Mac OS X, freeze framing a QuickTime of the music video as reference. It was actually a lot of fun. Thanks for the question!

Be sure to vote for Thriller 2 as well! THANKS!

I agree with the whole voting for the idea rather than execution spiel, but I think if this particular shirt was any "better" executed, it'd be stepping on several copyrights' toes.

I wouldn't necessarily say that it was terribly executed, just not executed well. I absolutely love the idea and it reminds me of that "I love the 80's" show, just kinda tacky.

Re: 1982: Thriller

I love both designs! but I'd rather this one win. Honestly the narrow horizontal motif is waaaay overused, and I'd be happy with this huge, almost pattern-like design.

If you wanted to use more authentic 80's lingo, you would've said that the shirt is radical....cause it is!

I don't personally care if this wins or not, but wouldn't this typically be considered a Celebrity likeness?

Even if it is all pixelated, I thought any celebrity likenesses were big NONOs.

Either way, it is cute but I couldn't wear it. Good luck!
