Wow I like this. I hope it doesn't get lost in the fray.

Beautiful artwork once again, WB! GMV

Yeah. This isn't a vine, so it'll definitely not get printed.
Shame
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
Wow, my grandmother has a birthday coming up, and I would love to buy this for her. Nice showing once again, WB.

I made a grandma design? *giggles*
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
I made another design for this contest that I really like... but I put text in it. I need to read rules I guess ha

*tee hee* funny!
Very nice art, WarholBot.

Could you expound a little on the graphic elements? I see a geranium, apple, green orange, artichoke red currant tree. The floating skulls seem out of place, although I guess it has to do with the title.

skulls symbolizing peril or danger with the presence of the apple. Some elements are arbitrary for more of the green / plant life theme.
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
Very well done. from what I've seen of your stuff in previous derbies you're one of the better artists on here.
pennglendinning wrote:Very well done. from what I've seen of your stuff in previous derbies you're one of the better artists on here.
Agreed. Have you submitted anything for a daily? Would love to buy one.
I'm still in love with that teahouse.

I thought the same thing about your tea design.
Exact resubs aren't allowed and will be rejected. However, if you can modify it, you should be safe. The extent to which you must make changes is debatable and, in the end, is up to Woot. Sometimes they let slide just changing the colours, though sometimes they don't (or so I've heard).

I was thinking of drawing a new turtle for it... ill try and see what happens
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
I love your work! I'm still pulling hardcore for your camera design on DBH. This is fantastic.

i think it has a good chance. Its still early tho
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
This is my favorite by far. Hopefully, this won't get over looked. This deserves a print for sure.
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
This is beautiful. Maybe this will be the week Worholbot cracks the top 3.

GREATNESS I WANT ONE

Ya, resubmit. I want both, or at least a chance of getting one of them. Great stuff as usual.

thanks guys
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
Damn, that's awesome. I want one!
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
Wow! This is very nice and very unique. I really like that it's quite different from the usual styles we see around here.
I'll be honest, I can be a sucker for some of the cute designs (a natural weakness from my Japanese side). However, I also love the amazing artistic designs, which I would love to see more of. Some people seem to get very upset over the more simplistic/cute designs on here, but I'm pretty happy as long as there's enough variety.
Great job! GMV.

Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
Really nice work -- I love the rendering style. I had to read your explaination for the skulls, but that won't keep me from voting for it.
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
All of your entries should be in the fog. Now. What have the wooters come to?!?!
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
beautifully done! I love the subtleness of the skulls. Well done! ;-)
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
more votes?
you know u wanna
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
That this isn't even in the hotness is unacceptable.
Discobiscuits wrote:All of your entries should be in the fog. Now. What have the wooters come to?!?!
Amen to that.
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
this should be winning! what's wrong with people?
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
this is beautiful, but not original artwork. it had previously been up for voting at threadless
I removed my vote

I think you misunderstand the term original artwork. It is still my original artwork. Just has been submitted elsewhere. It is not up for voting, so it is allowed
memorysquares wrote:I think you misunderstand the term original artwork. It is still my original artwork. Just has been submitted elsewhere. It is not up for voting, so it is allowed
um dont you mean my artwork? hahaha
memorysquares wrote:I think you misunderstand the term original artwork. It is still my original artwork. Just has been submitted elsewhere. It is not up for voting, so it is allowed
I think the concern here might be (if I can play Woot's advocate here) that the shirt has had previous exposure on another site, and thus gains a vote advantage for being familiar to the crowd. The concern is not whether the art is created by the designer but rather whether it has seen exposure in another forum. The idea being that art created specifically for this derby would be unfairly competing with art which has been seen before and already has its fans who wish it had been printed on Threadless.
I understand the designer's desire, here. It looks like a shirt that took an incredible amount of time and effort and I'd certainly want to give a design like that every chance I could give it in order to print. It might not be quite kosher, though, in terms of fair competition.
Lovely design, though.
memorysquares wrote:I think you misunderstand the term original artwork. It is still my original artwork. Just has been submitted elsewhere. It is not up for voting, so it is allowed
no original artwork is supposed to mean artwork that is new to the derby. I am not going to vote for a design that was already given a chance elsewhere, the derby is supposed to be a place to showcase designs original to woot.
To quote the guidelines, and reasons for rejection:
"We determine that design is not exclusive to Woot - i.e., the designer (or a designate) has previously produced and distributed this design, or one substantially similar;"
perhaps woot is rethinking. I am not a rejector (though I'd be happy to volunteer), all I can do is point out when I see designs that are not following the rules. I think that this behavior is unfair to the other designers and unfair to the voters, so I will tattle and comment. Other people can decide if they wish to vote for a design or not.
And now we know that memorysquares is an alternate name for warholbot. very handy.
edited to add the line I was looking for originally:
quoting from "What is Woot":
"The difference is, these aren’t somebody else’s leftovers. Woot tees feature exclusive, original designs that you can’t get anywhere else (hence the terms “exclusive” and “original”)."

ummm.....i'm pretty sure if woot were to print this that is would indeed be an 'exclusive, original design that you can't get anywhere else'..... considering that it has never been produced anywhere else.
and if this design already has followers from another site, why on earth would woot NOT want to draw those fans to their own site?
these artists have to eat you know, give em a break.
Re: Eve's Temptation is my Problem Now
"previously produced and distributed this design"
Once again you misunderstand.
That means the design has been printed and sold. Which it has not.

I believe this was already addressed with Warhol's first entry, wasn't it? The authories ok'd his entry because it was not produced. I believe this is not an issue and hope an official moderator would post here a clarify to ease these people's minds. (sigh)

There have already been other shirts that won a w00t derby and were printed, though they have been put up for a contest on another website in the past--as recent as "Nobody's child" by radiomode from the Motherhood derby. That shirt was entered on Threadless, but was never printed.
This design by Warholbot was entered in a contest at Threadless that was over 261 days ago, well past the 60 (or 90) day rule for either website. I really don't see what your beef is with it.

It is clear that the woot gods disagree with my interpretation of their rules. However, i continue to believe that resubbing from another site is against the spirit of the Derby rules. You can disagree with me, but that is my opinion.
If warholbot and others continue to submit shirts created elsewhere, I will continue to tattle and comment. voters deserve to know which designers are simply resubbing previous designs and which ones are creating original entries for the derby.

You should also apply your stance with all re-submitted designs here on w00t as well.

I know memorysquares is a new account, but my concern was for other accounts that we don't know about. I'm not even saying that's what you are doing, but I'm pointing out that it would be easy for someone to rack up their own votes. I know that you are already getting hassled about your designs (please see my post for your heart of nature design), but my only concern was the dishonest appearance of having multiple screen names. If you are honestly saying that you only have two accounts and can't vote with one, then I have nothing against you. In the future maybe you should stick to the one account, just to ease the voters' minds.

Please don't go away! Your work is great and such a nice change from what is becoming the standard in the current derbies. There are other people who feel the same way I do.

I do! Agree, I mean.
