Oboe > Bassoon
Re: The Music Matrix
This one's my favorite so far, shame it's not getting as many votes.
Re: The Music Matrix
Re: The Music Matrix
I would buy it if the notes were a little smaller, so you could fit more lines of them.
Re: The Music Matrix
Thanks for the support everyone! I was pretty surprised to see the jump this made when I logged on this afternoon.
...and yes, I think that this design at 8px per inch would've been awesome (and with more lines of course). =D
I LOVE this one!! It has to get printed!!
Re: The Music Matrix
very clever

This is great. You really got a lot of depth in it which looks cool. Nice and simple, GMV.

My daughter plays the bassoon so I have to ask - what does this saying mean and/or refer to?
fleamarketadict wrote:My daughter plays the bassoon so I have to ask - what does this saying mean and/or refer to?
Good for her! Bassoons are cool though I don't know many people who play them.
In The Matrix there was a scene that coined the phrase "There is no spoon". Bassoon kinda rhymes with spoon, and since it's a music related play on The Matrix I just went with it.
@ cheese - Thanks! I was surprised at how well it worked with just two colors.

You really gotta go out and pimp this design more so it can get in the fog. It's literally the only shirt in the competition I would consider buying.

I'll see what I can do about that.
fablefire wrote:I'll see what I can do about that.
I don't think it needs any pimping. It seems to have trampled right over my poor fox on its way up to the fog. :-)
daedalusknight wrote:I don't think it needs any pimping. It seems to have trampled right over my poor fox on its way up to the fog. :-)
I dunno. Your fox keeps nipping at its heels. XD
fablefire wrote:I dunno. Your fox keeps nipping at its heels. XD
Heh. Well I won't give up hope. It's early in the derby still, so there's no telling who will be in the final three when the dust all settles. :-)

Ja... I think we'll both storm the fog if the hotness is any indicator... =D
fablefire wrote:Ja... I think we'll both storm the fog if the hotness is any indicator... =D
That would be nice, though I've been in and out of the hotness all day. I still think there's time, so I hope things work out well. :-)
Re: The Music Matrix
All I know is if this doesn't make it in there over the next few days, resubmit a higher res version of the same concept for another derby, because I gotta have this shirt!

i basically had to vote for this giggle
Re: The Music Matrix
Yippee!!! Its in the fog! I have wanted a music themed derby for so long, but this works too ![]()

Singer's bib. Thy mouth overfloweth with notes!
Re: The Music Matrix
would be sweet if it glowed in the dark...

This made me l.ol for real. XD
Thanks for the support everyone!
...and yes, it would be cool if they could glow in the dark - just so long as the ink wasn't the tacky pale-yellow glow in the dark kind.

Awesome! This design is in the fog!

I play the bassoon. So much sadness.
Re: The Music Matrix
Isn't this the definition of a computer graphics reference? The matrix itself and the concept behind it is a computer graphic, not to mention it's one of the most common computer wallpapers from a few years ago.
It's nice, I guess I'm just surprised they are ok with it

Me too. I'd suggest this as another visual cliche that should be banned.
Re: The Music Matrix
awesome. hope this wins
ruthsdad wrote:Me too. I'd suggest this as another visual cliche that should be banned.
Have you seen computer that spits out binary programming in vertical columns? I haven't. They never said "no movie/literary references".
If I named it "musical notation waterfall" would it be better?
Edit: I wonder if it's vertical in asian software... that'd be weird.
Either way, the intention was that instead of seeing the world in 1 and 0, you'd see it in musical notation (as I'm sure some composers do).
I mean, if you want to reject a reference of a reference, why not reject all pixelated hearts because they're used extensively in games?
Oh well. Back to techno makin.

I play bassoon too, hurray! :D
Bassoons are awesome, and contrabassoons are even goofier!

We're supplying the Contras with bassoons now? :-)
Yes... I'm joking. :-)

:O
YES! Those rock too. I had never heard a contrabassoon by itself until I picked up a set of samples with a contra in it. Very cool sound.
ansharp wrote:I play the bassoon. So much sadness.
Are you kidding? Bassoon has some of the coolest parts. Mozart loved bassoon. Some of the best pieces have awesome bassoon riffs; and of course, they often double with the cellos, which are quite awesome as well. ((heh, I'm a cellist))

how is this shirt in the lead??

It's not. No worries.

"Heh heh...you know...we gotta quit supplyin' these rebels with instruments of destruction or instruments of any kind. No arms sales to the contras and no samples. The Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) has "Fablefire" on its list now. You gotta drive now, boy, cause flying is off limits to you."

@ Just - I'm just finishing the detailing on the sites right now. Thinking maybe August.

I totally agree, thus why I was sad when Fable said "There is no bassoon."
ansharp wrote:I totally agree, thus why I was sad when Fable said "There is no bassoon."
Ah. I understand. ![]()
Re: The Music Matrix
Yet another bassoonist here, and I agree with the others here that this is the only shirt in this derby that I'd buy (except maybe Uncle Walt). Good luck!
Re: The Music Matrix
You just don't see enough music references today......especially when you're a musician. And in reponse to eralier posts...
Vocalist > Instrumentalist :P Ah the age old struggle
Re: The Music Matrix
i really really like this one!!!
