Geez louise! I keep coming here and hoping this one is in the fog...so vote for this one people and make it happen!
This is so appropriate for Tim Burton's rendition of Alice in Wonderland in the works. With Depp as the Mad Hatter and all, I would proudly wear this one to the first showing.
Plus, I am a Disney and horror fanatic so the combination is evident in this very shirt. Again, I really want this shirt so I truly hope it gets printed.

Yes, Depp is signed on to play the Hatter. A lot of people are joking on other forums in saying he should just wear the same costume he wore in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. llo I'm pretty psyched about it, as I can always go for a good Burton flick.

JadenKale wrote:where did you find this information? IMDB has no record of the production time yet.
edit: I found it. Due out 2010. HA! I'm 2 years ahead of the times.
I have heard the news from various places since I keep up on Disney info. on a daily basis. However, here's an article I ran into:

Your shirt is also very reminiscent of The Nightmare Before Christmas (the evil side of the mayor), which also works for the upcoming DVD re-release and first time on Blu-Ray...woohoo! Which is August 26th in case if anyone is wondering. :D
Yup, all around perfect timing for this shirt with so much Burton news circulating.

Re: Mercury: The QuickSilver Psycho

As I usually do, I am going to say that the connection to an element in this is tenuous. While I don't dislike this shirt at all, it seems more appropriate for say, a twisted children's story shirt or dark fantasy world derby. I feel like, as you said Jaden, you enjoy Alice in Wonderland and wanted to execute a design using that theme and put some bubbles that are only construed as mercury if it is known that this was for a derby having to do with an element. And even then, the element is not obviously mercury.
As always, just my humble opinion and any arguments are welcome. That is actually my point. I am curious as to what everyone else (including the designer) thinks.

The two tin men have, at least, the idea of a "tin" man in their name, and in one, tin is fighting copper. The mad hatter isn't known as the mercury hatter. The plutonium one, I will agree, is rather tenuous as well. And the bomb one, I think, embraces the theme (although I really don't like it.)

High-society men used to put mercury on their hats (usually top hats 'cause they were well-to-do) in order to weight them down since mercury is a heavy metal as well as a liquid at normal temperatures. These men often went senile as they progressed in life undoubtably due to the frequent exposure to mercury, which is toxic. The Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland is based on this phenomenon.
Thus, the designer has expertly incorporated an element (and a very well-known property thereof) into a design that, in my opinion, exemplifies this derby theme.
Very interesting. Something that I did not know. Mind if I ask you for your source of this information?
Boxers used to cheat by injecting their gloves with it as well (due to it's heaviness).

JadenKale wrote:gee, I posted a link in my first post about the history of beaver fur top hats and how the vapors from the mercury would cause shaking, limping gaits, and mental instability (in some cases, it also turned the skin black around the edges). Which IS towards the bottom of that story from Wisconsin about the top hat. PLUS, as I've defended before, there is also the atomic number and the formula abbreviation for Mercury = Hg on the hat tag.
See? This is how I learn! By being combative. Thanks for the lesson everyone.
Sorry Jaden. I did not read your link because I'm an WAFFLES! TASTY WAFFLES!.
