After getting some great feedback (thank you!) I decided to resubmit this design. If you voted for the first version, thank you and please vote again. If you haven't voted for it, check it out and, if you like it, please consider voting for it. I was quite excited to see this flirt with the hotness earlier and I hope to see this version do just as well, if not better. Thanks for looking and for your consideration.

As I mentioned in the first entry, this design was inspired by Maori/Polynesian tattoos, although I combined that inspiration with my own style. I decided to keep with the tattoo feel and went with the dark colors to fit. For the second version, I added the fancy-shmancy tail to the male, reworked the female's tail a bit, lightened up the female one level, and added a little space between where the birds overlap as well as between their faces and the heart for better delineation. Hope you like the new version. If so, please vote. And I always welcome critiques, good or bad, so your comments are appreciated.

Thank you pepper. Love your comment. By the way, every single time I see your signature I laugh. It is sad to admit, but I have actually sat and watched it for too long a period of time with a smile on my face and a vacant look in my eyes. My 2-year-old son loves it too. Thanks again.

OpenDesign, thank you very much for your comments. Much appreciated. And I do appreciate your comparison to yours, but I have to stick with my assessment. Yours is really unbelievable and super clean and the style is near and dear to my heart (the use of patterns, repetition, flow of shapes, using the same shape to represent multiple things). Simply put, it is right up my alley. I love it and wish you the best of luck with it (glad to see you are in the top ten now!). Thanks again and take care.

There are some exceptional design this week but this is the one I wouldn't think twice about clicking 'want' for. I hope this gets up into the fog!

Earth- This one is doing really well for you. I think you made a good call by only submitting one of the two designs. Seems folks like this one, so you probably kept the best of the two.

Thanks kls. It appears you have done well with your kls/toe collaborations as well with them both currently in the top 20. Hard to tell which of my two designs would have done best since I pulled the other, but I'm happy with the results regardless. A few of my coworkers thought as you did and preferred the initial design, but an equal number preferred the latter. Thanks again for all of your feedback and assistance. thesmath, thank you very much for the great feedback and I am flattered by your offer to purchase a print. Woot has exclusive right to the design for 60 days (well, actually about 55 days now) so I am unable to do anything with it until about the beginning of November. I do actually have plans for it at that time if this does not get named as an honorable mention. I will send you a private message letting you know of those plans so that we can stay in touch. I wish! I've been here a few times and unfortunately it has always been fleeting, just even to feel a little bit of heat from the hotness. I once saw the fog in the distance, so it does really exist, but again it was fleeting. Maybe someday. I'll do my best to keep trying, although the next few months will be a transition period and it may be tough to find the time (I've been saying that for three weeks though and I find myself cruising woot Thursday afternoon every week anyway). I think you're being awfully modest here, because I really do see this making a steady climb. This is quite different from many entries, and very wearable. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see at least a top 10. As for input, I just voiced an opinion. (or 10!) It is your original work that is getting the votes. (And I'm not trying to start a debate!) :o)

Well, you've got yourself a little debate. While I appreciate your very positive comments about my entry, the derby is drawing to an end and such a climb would be extremely unlikely (I am however amazed at the movement of "Honu - Spirit of Hawaii" toward top-10 status today!). I am already happy with its current success and would be thrilled with even a top-20 finish. thesmath asked earlier in the thread for one if I print it elsewhere down the road, and that may actually happen. If so, I will send you one as, regardless of your modesty (touché), it is in part your design. Thanks again.

Hello again Groowalla. Sorry for the delayed reply. We all kind of pulled an all-nighter last night as my sister delivered a healthy baby girl early this morning (her first child, welcome to the world Isabella!). If you reply and I don't get back to you right away it is because we are getting some shuteye.

Aside from the option I mentioned in my PM, I will look into setting up an account on cafepress or etsy (I do not yet have that set up). I am just getting back into the design world after a bit of a hiatus and, while testing my hand on woot, I am also trying to explore these other options.

By the time the woot non-compete time period is up in early November, one or more of these options will definitely be available and I will surely get back in touch with you to see if you still might be interested once we are ready to go. Thanks again for the great feedback. Talk to you soon.

Thank you so much for such great feedback. Hearing your kind words really makes me feel good and they are very much appreciated. Thanks as well for your offer to purchase it via another route if it does not get printed by woot (that looks more than likely to be the case).

To elaborate on my plans, I am in touch with another online shirt/apparel company who has already offered to sell the Maori Love Birds design. If this does not get named by Woot as an honorable mention and does not appear in a do-over derby, it will definitely be printed by either that company or via another outlet such as cafepress. I do not yet have an account there but plan on setting one up which would open up the product line a bit to items such as prints.

I will keep record of our message and will contact you in early November to see if you might still be interested. Actually, no. Top 3 get printed. Woot also picks a few designs from each derby as "honorable mentions". The honorable mentions come from any spot in the derby, not necessarily the top 10. After a few months, all of the honorable mentions get put into their own do-over derby, where once again, the top 3 are printed. (and traditionally, woot follows up the do-over winners with 4 editor's picks)

So, to sum it up:...in order to get printed, this shirts needs to:
1. Get in the top 3 in this derby or
2. Get an honorable mention in this derby and then EITHER get in the top 3 in the do-over derby or get chosen as an editor's pick after the do-over derby or
3. The artist can submit the design somewhere else in 60 days

Hope all of that makes sense. ^^;

I also really liked this design. I wish the top 10 had a chance to be printed, even if it isn't for the $10 price. This was a fun derby and I've never gotten so many votes on a design before so that was exciting. Hope to try again...must say this is quite addicting.
