Beautiful! I smell a winner. Really cool design, great balanced composition, and thoughtful approach to the linework. AND if it prints (likely, methinks), I think it would sell well.

I'm glad you decided to enter something. The owl is great, but the title is even better. I entered something too, despite being burnt out. I'm way to anal to let a derby slip by. I will now vote for your owl.

A winner for shore. Beautiful work. I love that the lines are angular, kind of warbly, and varying in thickness. Not to mention, I have a weakness for owls.

Would buy it in an instant.

yes, i used that photo, but trace might not be the most appropriate term for what i did here.

Guilty? No... i just actually thought your artwork was original and from your own creative mind (it usually is, I am sure), so I was a bit surprised about the photo. It is still good tho, Yo.

Jiimiyo, this is a great piece of work. I always figured that designers were allowed to use a reference. One of the comicbook greats, Alex Ross, has models that he uses for reference on almost all of his superdude(tte) portraits, so I figure it's kosher.

I'm glad you were able to find a derby where your linework would actually _get_ you votes, btw.

Oh man I truly love owls, only I wish the colors could be reversed or just a little different. Like maybe a white, yellow or cream colored design on a navy shirt. Either way I absolutely love the artwork and even though I'm not a big fan of the baby blue, I'd really consider buying this one. Good luck yet again jimiyo!

Doesn' t matter if he did, unlike using the actual photo and live tracing, using a bird as a something to look off of for deminsions is ok .

I've been away from the internet for almost two weeks. Good to see people are just as baffling as ever. Thus far, this is the only design in the derby that I would wear, ergo vote for.

Wow, this design really stuck out to me. I love the feathers most of all, because it creates the pattern of the owl's feathers. And using a photo for reference is totally acceptable, IMO. Great design!

Did you come back thinking things had changed or just enjoy the challenge? I certainly hoped the latter. I believe the definition of insanity parallels with coming back to the derby producing an artistic, wearable shirt, and expecting it to get the votes to print. I'm not sure where cute cat pics fall into the definition, but I am certain they don't stray to far away.

If you want to actually compete, I would suggest trying to find a surgeon to do a lobotomy for $1000, so you can at least break even. Kill the spirit, motor skills, and ability to function in society and even you could be #1 on the woot charts. Good Luck!!!!!
