I don't see how this illustrates the derby theme without the title. Explain.

I thought the same. This entry makes it look like he was caught red-handed.

washington allegedly chopped down a cherry tree when he was young. His dad said "Yo' bitches," (Mr. Washington was ghetto like that) "Who be choppin' my trizz-ee down?"

Little George said "I cannot tell a lie, it was I who chopped your tree down"

Then his dad knocked his teeth out, causing him to get wood falsies.

It's likely not a true story, but it's gained popular credence in the same way "let them eat cake" did. If the Marie Antoinnette shirts are "history" despite being based off an unfounded bit of popular folklore, this shirt is legit also. Personally, I don't care which way woot rules on that, so long as they get rid of all the movie koi.

Re: What if Washington Could Tell a Lie?

The look on washington's face expresses an "I didn't do it" type thing. Also, he's trying to hide the axe behind his back. I really like it.

Nope, it's not true. I could link you some historical stuff, but here's a Cracked article instead.

Sorry Adder, I don't think your explanation helped (which suprised me, I want you to know). We all know the story. This design just doesn't do the 'alternate' part specified by the derby. (which is fine I still like it! GMV)

The point is that he is caught red-handed and is trying to look innocent Sorry if the image isn't clear enough, but it was just done for fun anyway.

I don't see it. All I see is the same blank look as the squirrels and bunnies.

Oooh, I like this one MUCH better than your Mayflower one. Except for the dead people. I think woot needs something a little macabre. Throw one of those dead folks under the tree right thur, and this shirt's a winner. :D

Alright, one of America's greatest icons should never be done in a cutsy anime way. I mean really.

Re: What if Washington Could Tell a Lie?

To clarify my earlier comnment:

I don't see an alternate history here. First of all, the deal with GW telling the truth to his father is unsubstatiated. Second, how does this picture show him lying?

If he wasn't lying he'd not be holding the axe behind his back, for a start.

And as Adder said, just as much alternate history as Marie Antoinette.
