Why?
1. He doesn't do anything that anyone else thinks of.
2. His design layouts and placement have progressively become more "wareable" (sp?)
3. Everything is hand drawn. I.E. not using the pen tool in illy. Let see you do a strait line with a tablet... still waiting.
4. The designs stretch the overall theme to new levels.
5. He is not afraid to do different things each week.
6. His attention to detail is unsurpassed as far as I have seen.
7. He is better than you and that's okay by me.

Deep. Haha.

Great design. Very morbid but interesting. It sorta reminds me of the Scion Deviants:

1. Not a sign of greatness, sorry. Originality is not the source of quality.

2. This seems like more of a con than a pro.

3. I don't draw, but I don't think that weakens the value of my criticisms concerning the design as a whole and its practicality.

4. I'm afraid I just don't see what you mean by this one.

5. He does roughly the same thing each week. Incorporating gruesomeness and death into whatever the theme is.

6. I'm almost certain that's a wild exaggeration of the facts. I could go through and present you with examples, but I don't think that's even necessary. It's a ridiculous statement to have made in the first place.

7. He is better than me--at drawing, you mean. Of course, he is not better than me at belittling your points and revealing the flaccid and impotent nature of your argument. And he may or may not be better than me at design. However, he is certainly not better than me at having my opinion. So I'm afraid, once again, I omgwin! to see your point.

Thanks for trying though.

Even though I really like the concept of this, I don't think that this is actually very wearable. I don't mind gore or blood in shirts, nor do I mind dead bodies. Something about the placement and the detail just doesn't do it for me. I really do like the style you work in though, and i was hoping to see your other design in this derby. Still hoping you submitt it.

Oh Gosh, this is terrific! When I was a kid, my parents made me take accordion lessons. Humiliating at the time, but it certainly DID start me on the path to music-love, and I was able to switch to a few more, uh, practical instruments as I grew up!

I wonder what my mom will say if I walked in wearing this shirt? :D

Oh, and I forgot to mention: I like the positioning of the G-Clef on the shirt. It balances out the design and draws your eye around the whole image, instead of being left-heavy.

Actually I didn't try... I was just spouting off my opinion points behind why I said HE is at his best right now.

But hey, its good to know that I hit a sore spot.

Edit: Quick Note, I said, and believe, he is better than you because you won't ever find Drak ragging on someone else's design. Honestly I don't care about your opinion, I just feel it is rude to bash a design without giving some form of useful criticism. If you don't like it, why don't you? This way you look like less of an asshat troll.

lwoodnj wrote:1. Not a sign of greatness, sorry. Originality is not the source of quality.

While execution is very important, I don't think you'll find many lovers of the arts saying originality isn't important.

2. This seems like more of a con than a pro.

Improvement is a con, really?

3. I don't draw, but I don't think that weakens the value of my criticisms concerning the design as a whole and its practicality.

It helps to have an informed opinion, though. Art is completely subjective. Your opinion of it is therefore only "true" within your own frame of reference--some will agree with you, others won't. It doesn't mean you or they are any more (or less) correct.

5. He does roughly the same thing each week. Incorporating gruesomeness and death into whatever the theme is.

That's a pretty broad "roughly." The two Drakxxx shirts I own are neither gruesome nor incorporate death? Admittedly, The mood of several of his pieces is dark or even morbid (especially of late), but it's absurd to use this as a basis for saying his submissions are "the same each week." Hasty generalization much?

You're equal to everyone else in your subjective opinion. Drakxxx hasn't even responded to the post you've referenced, so how can you argue you're a superior disputant? Nice logic--and Freudian allusion, too!

No.

Having a negative opinion of an artist is entirely your prerogative, and you're welcome to espouse this opinion in whatever way you deem appropriate, but that statement is wholly inaccurate.

I mean, I don't particularly understand the purpose of clicking on a design you don't like and posting about how you don't like it, especially since the artist in question isn't especially controversial and doesn't cause problems on the site, but if you feel that you must, you might want to consider avoiding absurd blanket judgments that are not, in fact, true.

I didn't start anything, your comment was a response to my post. You asked why, I simply answered with the reasons for my compliment intended for Drak and his current submition. It's a public board, you read it and decided to question it. You are the one that decided to dissect my logic.
