When I thought of steampunk, a lot of obvious ideas came to mind, but I wanted to do something a little more off-the-wall, something just randomly awesome and mechanical. So here we are with steampunk pirates, the corsairs of the sky. And yes, the pirate flag is wearing goggles. ;)

Well that took forever and a day, but we're finally up. This was a huge challenge for me to take on. I will post detail pictures later. I need a break. *whew*!

This looks like something that should be on the cover of a Decemberist Album. (That is a compliment!) I love the design of the ship.

Also, I really like it as is, but I think it would be cool to see it in a nighttime or twilight setting, with some stars & darker background.

Just like Myke Amend's dirigible artwork at http://www.mykeamend.com, which has also been favorably compared to a Decemberists' album cover that never was but might have been. Myke's artwork is in my steampunk nursery.

Thanks! I like the twilight/night setting, too, but I was afraid people would say it was too close to my "inspired by Sailor Moon" entry (http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=29199. I drew this from scratch and I didn't want people saying I just modified my old design. I might make a night version and sub it somewhere else after the 60 days, though.
