This was my first-ever Derby entry during the TV show titles reinterpreted derby, and I very intentionally went with a steampunk motif, and now wouldn't you know it if Woot had a steampunk derby theme.

I didn't know the dates and deadlines at the time, though, and entered this a day before the Derby ended, and a lot of people said they really liked the design and were disappointed it was entered so late as to have no chance of winning. Well, now it has a chance.

Maybe. People are entering some good stuff in this derby. D:

If you're going to resubmit a design, it must be significantly modified. The rejectionator will judge whether or not your modification is "significant" - sometimes it's fine to just change the colour palette or add a couple of extra fluorishes to the background, sometimes redrawing the entire design is still not enough. But if you make no changes at all, it's almost a guaranteed rejection!

So, I'm sitting here at work looking at shirts, and I see this one and I'm like "hey, this shirt's awesome" and I call my coworkers over to look at it, and they're like "yeah, that shirt's awesome", and then only after everyone's come and gawked did I realize it was yours.

Ah, I see. I did ask, when the derby was announced but before it opened, what the rule was on resubmitting designs, and, helpfully, nobody responded.

It's utter yak excrement that this was rejected just because it's a re-entry. I think it's the only thing I've seen so far that I would actually buy.

Some guppy on a lemon colored shirt will probably win, again. And I won't buy it, again.

It's a cute design. You should find out when you can get the rights back so you can try to get it printed somewhere else. Or, could this be an editor's choice, shirt.woot gals and guys?

It is a sad state of affairs when this gets rejected while the fog has submissions that are less relevant and less well drawn.

Those links get posted in just about every derby thread though, so I'm guessing you won't go check it out on your own, so...

The question of 'can I resubmit a popular design in multiple derbies?' has been a contentious one (so much so that Woot(!) commandant Joel Lewis weighed in).

Our laxity in rejections of resubmissions has been thrown directly back in our face. Touche and here, I'll clarify:

Resubmissions are not allowed unless there has been "significant" change(s) made to the entry. "Significant" is the subjective part here. Color changes, composition, additions, etc may all qualify as significant or may not. It's up to us. If you think someone is sneaking one in, I'll rely on the Tattle functionality to help out. Use the Tattle and link to the previous submission. It's not enough just to say "resubmission."

If it's determined to be a resubmission without significant change, then it will be rejected. People who think it's funny and keep resubmitting will be probated (ooh...I'm salivating).

In the event that a previous entry has attained the noble Honorable Mention status, is then resubmitted with what are determined as 'significant' changes, then the resubmitted entry will stand, but it may forfeit it's entry into the Best of Derby. How's that?
