Subtly, I think this says the joke fell flat on its face.

Not a surprise.

Re: Kohlrabi

in case people aren't getting the joke. its a crappy cabbage that doesn't make a good band name, much like korn is an awful band name. "who is your favorite band?" "korn". hoser.

Join date, japanese username, etc.

Number of shirt.woots in 08: 23 (not counting randoms and shirts bought for friends)
number of shirt.woots in 09: 2 (same criteria)

I don't think "honzo" is necessarily Japanese.

I like how every user with a Japanese-esque username and who joined after a certain date no longer have a valid opinion on anything.

I guess it's funny...But I feel like it's one of those where someone laughs at the joke out of pitty...

Additionally, while the minimalist style adds to the parody I do feel like printing this would be a waste. As it turns out, I can probably make my own for free with an old t-shirt and a marker. Sorry, doesnt GMV.

I assume that the intent wasn't to actually get the shirt to print, but instead to illustrate a point... but I could be wrong...

That's kind of what I was thinking, but it seems like Adder hates it when other people do the same thing. It would be a tad, well, hypocritical if his only reason to submit the design was to make this particular point.

There wasn't much of a point being made, unless you consider "KoRn has a dumb name" to be the point. I thought a parody of a band would be a completely viable path to take.

Either way, I don't have much of a problem with people making a point with their entries as long as it is a viable point. I think most "points" made around here are the "nyah, I can manipulate the most voters" sort. I am all for protesting the status quo, but as with any protest, it must be done intelligently to be successful. Part of art is making waves. You can't make waves and play to the crowd at once.

Though as hypocritical as such a move might be on my part, it would be no less hypocritical for people to criticize me for it while not criticizing the people who stand up for such hypocrisy every week, would it not?

I sort of have to agree with this. I always thought the Korn shirts were dumb, and the joke here doesn't quite override that first impression either.

That's fair enough, I suppose: using the h-word was an easy shot to take and one which is always inherently flawed. I would, however, argue that you can indeed "make waves" and "play to the crowd" simultaneously so long as you choose the right crowd and the right waves.

...and KoRn is a stupid band name.

I can't argue against the joke being dumb, but I certainly can name a number of shirts woot has printed that could have easily been made by anyone with a marker or fabric paint. On that count, it would be nothing new.
