In keeping with the theme, I "inked" this before scanning it in and colorizing it. I did it in my "Order From Chaos" style, hence the name Chaoptic. I used Maori/tribal influences as well. I would have taken it further had I not run out of time, but I do like how it came out. If you do as well, please spare a vote. Critiques welcome, good or bad.

Very pretty... I really like the colors on the octopus/squid... though I think they may have gone better with a different shirt color.

Thank you very much. Yours is super cute (surprised it isn't higher up the ranks). Still early for us both so there may be some movement. As for the shirt color, I wrestled with it for a good half hour. I think I ended up going with the olive because I liked the contrast of the octopus colors. Good stuff!!! I especially like the color scheme, and think the olive is a nice contrast. I also like the graceful approach to a creature commonly seen in a more menacing pose. You've got the votes from this house, (And an "I'd wear that if it wins." too!) Welcome back to the games, and good luck!

Thanks so much for the great comments and well wishes. I doubt I'll be able to do much of this in the coming derbies, but I couldn't pass this one up and the timing was right. I had a tough time with the color and am glad to hear you like it. It really was a tough call. Thanks again for your feedback. Hope to see you round these parts (or others) in the coming months. Agreed. I love the squid, don't care for the shirt color at all.

Thank you your great feedback. If I make a version two of this, I am going to reconsider the shirt color. I had a tough time with it and since the point has been made a few times, I will definitely revisit it. Thanks again for your input. It is much appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback. I will definitely take that into consideration in my next version. It's funny, at first I did have it smaller but I felt the detail was getting a bit lost. I will take another look though to see if I can get the smaller original design to work. Thanks again.

I like the design... But I think this might work better on dark gray (Asphault) shirt. But I still voted for it.

I actually would've suggested yellow. It would make the colors and the outline pop, but in asphalt things might look a little dulled.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually looked at yellow and it ended up being too overpowering. Asphalt did work better I thought but it was in fact a bit dulled, but still provided good contrast. Another contender for me was light blue, but I thought perhaps it wouldn't be a very popular color (I liked it but that doesn't mean others will). If I get the opportunity (I'm packing up to drive to Ohio from Boston tomorrow morning), I will post both versions in the derby comments and see if I can conjure up any feedback. Thanks again.
