Great job Drakxxx. I like this more than some of your other stuff (not that it isn't great, its just not usually my style). Though, seeing the girl's hand touching the needle gives me phantom pain in my finger!

Same here on all counts. Ack, my finger!
I like the colors too.
Re: The Living Canvas
Great as always. gmv
Re: The Living Canvas
Love this, Drakxxx. I always have a thing for your designs, but sometimes it's hard to see myself wearing them. This one though is perfect. Hope it prints!

Exactly what I was going to say. This might be my favorite of yours ever. Just wish the needle was spitting out ink only and not touching the girl.

I like that she's touching it. If she weren't, I feel like the tattoo bit would me more vague. This way it feels as if she really is flowing out of the needle.
Re: The Living Canvas
I love this design and it is placed really well on the shirt. Nice.

Beautiful. Can't wait for this to print.
Re: The Living Canvas
This came out great Draxxx, love the linework!
Re: The Living Canvas
I don't see it as she's flowing from the needle, but rather as a Sistine Chapel creation type scene. Works much better in that context, IMO. Either way, nicely done.
Re: The Living Canvas
Excellent design, but too blue for my tastes. Feels like it needs a slight touch of warmth.
Re: The Living Canvas
Very well done, Drakxxx.
Re: The Living Canvas
stunning as always! I think this works much better on a t-shirt than some of your other more "movie poster"-esqe compositions. I especially like the soft inkblot behind the point of contact, provides a contrast and focal point to the flowing blue design
Re: The Living Canvas
This is kind of a typical idea of a tattoo, but it is well done. Keep it up!
Re: The Living Canvas
This is one of my favorite you've done, Drakxxx! Great job!
BTW, is your name based on Drax the Destroyer? Always wondered...
Re: The Living Canvas
There's a wonderful flow to your work, Drakxxx. Lovely.
Re: The Living Canvas
this is awesome, i want one. love the blue!
Re: The Living Canvas
This is awesome Drakxxx. I think this is my favorite of yours for sure. Love the royal blue for this.
Re: The Living Canvas
thanks drakxxx! i really dig the flow this piece has to it... i deem thee the flowmaster!
Re: The Living Canvas
I've stopped following the derbies, but this is just gorgeous Drakxxx. I love the concept, the illo, the colors, the placement and the fluidity. Really hope this makes it. You mdgmv.
Re: The Living Canvas
Here's to hoping you stay up there man. Its a drag seeing you start off strong and then slowly sink to double digit placements. Looks great.
Re: The Living Canvas
Yes! Fantastic!!!
re: the living canvas
Flowers? Butterflies? In a Draxx design?
Re: The Living Canvas
I like, very "Creation of Adam". It's like messengers from the ethereal ink-iverse are gifting humanity with the magical tattoo pen.
Re: The Living Canvas
Love love love love love!
Looking forward to another royal blue shirt purchase when this prints! :D (For the love of all that is good this had better print.)
yumac29 wrote:Flowers? Butterflies? In a Draxx design?
It's more common than you think.
Re: The Living Canvas
Ah scaffolding! That's why I don't like looking at the designs before I get finished with mine. I had somewhat the same concept, but just done a bit differently. Great job drakxxx.
Re: The Living Canvas
Superb as usual, Drakxxx. Very inspired, I love the coloring and different shadings of blue. I don't have any tattos, but appreciate this nonetheless.
thanks for being you.
Re: The Living Canvas
Great design but the flowers and butterflies kill it for me. Would have preferred abstract swirls...
Re: The Living Canvas
Nice shading man, and creative placement. I like.
Re: The Living Canvas
Very nice illustration. This came out great.
Re: The Living Canvas
GMV. I like almost all of your designs, but I can't see myself wearing many of them. This, however, I can and will wear. good luck!
This is beautiful. I love the colors and the tattoo gun!
Re: The Living Canvas
hay well done! you managed to get a bit of every tattoo i've known and combine it into a very well done design.
Re: The Living Canvas
Outstanding. You have my $10 if this gets printed. Or $2, I guess.
Re: The Living Canvas
you always impress me, geez, very nice, i dont think there has been a time that I didnt vote for you. great job!
Re: The Living Canvas
Great Job Drakxxx! GMV
Re: The Living Canvas
I think the illustration and concept are fantastic, and overall this is a great design. My only concern is with the colours - I mentioned it before the derby began and looking at it now I'm even more worried. I just noticed that there are two separate shades of blue. I'm almost certain that at least one will be invisible on the shirt and the other will be difficult to see unless Woot steps in and brightens them up a bit when printing. I don't think I've heard of problems on blue yet, but the royal blue shirt I have is pretty dark.

I see your point. I happen to be wearing Cho's Treacherous Waters today (one of my few good random purchases) and the colour palette looks similar to me with the lighter and dark blues, and enough white to make it pop in places. I like the muted, subtle feel to the design; however, and it's one of my most complimented shirts. I think the addition of black to Drakxxx's might help it stand out even more, as well. I can see, though, where it might be too muted for some.
And for my random thought of the moment - I'm craving pistachio pudding.

I think I do recall some disappointed comments regarding loss of detail on Treacherous Waters, but I'm not sure. If it does print, I'll be interested in seeing how it turns out. ![]()

Thanks for the comments and support as always guys. I used similar blues on the Clockwork Dinosaurs shirt, which still came out visible, and printed quite nicely.
Re: The Living Canvas
Very well done! I love how simple your linework is in this comp (though, I do still love your complex work). The way the colors blend with the shirt and yet pop out makes it flow beautifully. The flowers and butterflies, I think, make it nicely unisex. Great job!!!
Re: The Living Canvas
get back in the fog damn you
Re: The Living Canvas
Hell yeah! I like the skulls which I'm usually not really into on shirts. I would definitely sport this design if given the opportunity. Vote yes for referendum 33659
Re: The Living Canvas
def gmv...i need this shirt ![]()
Re: The Living Canvas
DO WANT
this is so full of win
Re: The Living Canvas
wow you got beat out by a lumpy kiwi, some vector scaffolding, a joke done wrong and a design that actually belongs in the fog
glad to see that at least one of the four designs that beat you is deserving
Re: The Living Canvas
I haven't bought a shirt in months, and I was finally hoping to break the dry spell. But nooooooooo, people had to vote for that lumpy dodo bird, vector cliche, and those robots. Seriously man, I've been regretting not being able to get your shirts since the Survivor shirt. People just don't see the awesomeness. As long as you're gonna be designing, I'm gonna be right here, waiting and hoping that a Drakxxx will finally win!!!
Re: The Living Canvas
i am very upset that this shirt did not win...i so wanted to buy one...sorry
great job...

i totally agree...the kiwi shirt?? give me a break...and the robots...how unoriginal and uninspired...
Re: The Living Canvas
I was soooo looking forward to buying this!
