Re: The H.Q.
Lovely detail! Something about the organized chaos in the image is very much like that of shirt.woot. Definitely a great bag sub.

Re: The H.Q.
To be honest, I'm a little afraid that your design is close enough to mine to take votes away from me, especially because you managed to get yours submitted before mine. Darn "real" job, getting in the way of my Derby dreams!
Seriously though, I'm glad to see fantastic work, like yours, getting the recognition it deserves. Best of luck to you!
Re: The H.Q.
NICE job! I just love thos guys getting the tshirt put on em.

re: the h.q.
i have to say, nice stratigec placement of the girls after the part where the shirt machine clothes them.
Re: The H.Q.
they are all so. freakin. happy.
I think I would order the snail mail shirts just because this bag would make me laugh every time I saw it!
Re: The H.Q.
By FAR, this is the best design for the derby...and the ONLY one I'd want to see on a bag. This screams WOOT! w/o screaming "artist name" designed this! NICE JOB!
Re: The H.Q.
I like this design a lot, I just wish you would color in the shirts that the little dudes are wearing at the bottom. I think it would help set them apart from the non-shirt-wearing dudes.

No, yours just leaps into the vacuum.
Re: The H.Q.
sweet, mang. give me some of that stuff you're smoking. xD
Re: The H.Q.
This is such a great concept! You executed it so well too, now if only those creepy neckless people would loose some weight...
This is sure to be a top 3!
Re: The H.Q.
As I said in the other thread, this is a great design Kris. I think it captures the woot brand very well. I certainly wouldn't mind getting this in the mail! Again, great job.
Re: The H.Q.
Pure Awesomeness. Nice Job.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Now that I read my previous comment on The H.Q. again, I realize that perhaps it didn't really exhibit the esteem for a job well done that I meant it to have. I was trying to say that I think Kris did a very good job with a concept that is similar to the one I used. In fact, I agree that hers is more well done than mine is, thus the fear that it will get votes and mine will not. I was not trying to say that mine was better and hope that my comment didn't come across that way.

"Quality posts: 0" says it all.
Re: The H.Q.
Is that the rejectorator I see? Wonderfully wacky job Kris.
spilzer wrote:...I agree that hers is more well done than mine is, ...
Kris, man, I didn't know you're a woman! ;)
Anyways, I already commented on your blog, but this design freaking rules. How long did you take you to draw all of that, just out of curiousity?

Quality Posts doesn't mean much. And if they did, your opinion wouldn't count either. ![]()

Ooops, my bad. Sorry!
Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut. Every time I open it I seem to put my foot in it.

Lol I was about to ask the same thing!
Really Well done :D One of my favorites ![]()
Re: The H.Q.
If I could vote...this one would have mine. Great job and good luck! =]
Re: The H.Q.
I really like the Rube Goldberg-esque quality this evokes.
[ Please, Mr./Ms. Postperson, make all your deliveries using this happy bag, please. ]
I'd totally rip this open and throw it in the trash . . . GMV!
Re: The H.Q.
This is the bag I want. That is a plain and simple fact. Another fact : You can't plow a cotton field with an elephant in North Carolina. It is against the law. (an actual NC law)
Re: The H.Q.
I love almost everything about this design. The cartoon is fantastic, all the planning and placement is great. I do have one large critique though.
I feel that your use of orange is poor. Instead of using the orange to have such an overwhelming effect in the background, I think it could have been much better used to highlight the details, as you did in the testubes, mouths, pipes, ect.
In my opinion, placing it in the background really dwarfs the image and takes away from the great design. Also, the way you created an uneven border around the design between the outlines and the orange looks like you were coloring with a marker too big for the small areas.
I'd vote for this design in a heartbeat if the background were more visually pleasing, but as it is right now, I would not want my shirts shipped in it.

I actually tried it like you suggested above, but because of the high detail and low color count using the blue and yellow to highlight all the little pieces of the design just started to get messy. I settled on using the blue ONLY for the woot logo to make it stand out from the crowd, and tried yellow for the design elements which still didn't work for me, but when placing it behind like I have really made the design pop (especially on the bag comp which I really liked) but at the same time kept it easy on the eyes - I really liked it. I added yellow to the "liquid" elements just to separate them a little. And the "big marker" effect you were talking about was just what I was going for, it's a style I admire a few artists for and tried to replicate it here to give it a free flow style amid the rigid machinery in the rest of the design.

Love your bag design!

I was just about to say that. I think the big marker effect fits perfectly with the rest of the style you used to make the drawing.

I had wondered the same thing, thank you for explaining the decision you went with. I still think there's an overwhelming about of woot orange/yellow/whateveritis (personal taste), but think the design is top notch. GMV for giving more detail on the decision to go the way you did. ![]()

Nicely done... and adorable yet kooky at the same time.

Thanks kasey, and all the rest! Thanks for the votes and nice comments.
All the little details in this design are delightful. My favorite is the little guy giving a fist pump after getting his new shirt.
I hope this prints.
Speaking of small details...I like how the electrical sockets are smiley faces.. lol
