Re: Bluer than Blue
"C" is for celery, the dog got fixed and Daddy needs a new pair of shoes. No wonder they're "Bluer than Blue!"

Re: Bluer than Blue
I really enjoy your drawing style, and I do enjoy the specific blues you chose for the colors, and I like how you've depicted all the characters....
....but...
It made me a little sad inside to see that you, too, played into the Cookie Monster, Blues clues, and sonic public appeal factor. You always do such nice work, and you have here as well, but it still made me just the teensiest bit sad.
Re: Bluer than Blue
I love the concept and how that blue feeling permeates the characters... lol... ![]()
Re: Bluer than Blue
Thanks rjpulse
binkdrop- No worries, sorry to make you feel a little blue as well. I tried another style and subject matter, since my latest attempts were not too warmly received by the masses. I'm still searching for that "magic" combination of subject matter, art and style (wooters are a tough crowd). This one will probably be rejected anyways (since the other "Cookie Monster" design got rejected) or I'll pull it from the derby later. Cheers. ![]()
Great drawing, but....You took all the cute entries and made them your own. Come-on, be original! you could have at least thrown in one more character *you* thought of.
Re: Bluer than Blue
I like your style, unfortunately I think this is going to suffer the same fate as my first go at the monster
The only thing I would say is that you took an internal Woot discussion and debate and made a shirt of it, so while it's well done, it doesn't make since to those outside the derby...
re: bluer than blue
lol blues clue; cookie monster and sonic!

True this may be rejected, but I don't understand your statement of "taking an internal woot discussion and debate and made a shirt out of it."
What I did was interpret the theme "Blue" and designed accordingly to fit the theme. The concept being all three characters are first of all blue in color and in addition they are "blue" or sad emotionally because of their individual circumstances or shortcomings. I think it's enough of a "parody" (put my own spin on the character design)and pretty "knock-over-the-head" self-explanatory to the average person, but then again that's shirtwoot's decision. ![]()

I understand what your saying, but are you telling me the characters selected weren't in the least bit influenced by what was being submitted at the time? I saw it as an inside joke, thats all.

Pop culture, video game and cartoon references have been popular subject matter for quite some time in the arena of T-shirt design. There's a hundred different ways "to skin a cat" so to speak, and this was the concept I came up with.
And to answer your question, believe it or not, no, I wasn't influenced by what was being submitted at the time. I had an idea involving these characters from the get go, and evidently so did many others. A fellow designer even messaged me an idea using one of the characters in a design. There's over 6 billion people on this planet and it would be extremely presumptuous of me to think an idea was exclusively and originally of my own creation. But then again, my mind is always open and receptive to new ideas and creative influences around me and will continue to work in that manner.
Re: Bluer than Blue
This is great, Lucky. I love the blues and a spot of red and green that you used. And for the record, I don't see this as a sell-out piece at all. The parody is very apparent and it's really well done, artistically. Slapping some pop culture references on a shirt is something I don't like. Taking pop culture references and doing something clever with them, I love. And that's what you did.
Re: Bluer than Blue
I'm not surprised you used characters already in the derby either. The drawing is cute but all I can think of is someone ripped sonic's shoes off.. poor little guy! ;__;
Thanks for the support BootsBoots and Altheahelaine, although it's "swing and a miss" on this one. Maybe I'll try to find a different home for it.

If you remember to tell me when you take it somewhere else, I'll support it.
Re: Bluer than Blue
Our Movie Genre I love this why isn't this higher?!!!
Re: Bluer than Blue
I love all the cookie monster designs in this derby! I really love your style. Your designs are always top notch! Best of luck!

Re: Bluer than Blue
Love the texture and expression on cookie monster... and great job with the colors, the whole thing has a toned down but blue-toned look that is very nice. Blends so well.

Re: Bluer than Blue
I love the things that make them feel blue, like the cookie monster eating celery, and sonic with the torn/ripped shoes. Great work!
Re: Bluer than Blue
Me thinks this design will make you look fat.

Really you're going to try and be a firing Rocket Number 9 Crow because I didn't say something positive about your shirt?
But really the pointed top widening out at the bottom, yeah if you have a belly it will be accentuated here. But hey I guess that won't be a problem since this pandering piece of triteness will never print.
