I actually like that the deer look funny and somewhat like an anteater. I also like that they are not bears. This shirt is a little odd and weird and that's the appeal for me.

That was my first thought as well...and then someone pointed out they have antlers - deer, not bears...me face be as red as the cranberry shirt.

They're not bears, but, yes, bears do eat grass. Not sure if they eat all kinds of grasses, but sure that they do eat some.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this shirt? Where are the bears? Are those ant eaters or deer? Are parks known to be redundant? It just seems this idea was pulled out of thin air with no relevance to contemporary culture.

If you look, they have weird little antlers. Deer, I'd say.

Haven't you ever been to a national park? There are lots of signs, usually, saying 'don't feed the wildlife' or sometimes 'don't feed the *insert specific animal here*'.These show up a lot (or seem to, at least) so maybe that's where the redundancy came from.

Or perhaps redundancy was just pulled out of thin air- boots made up a national park, used 'redundancy' as the theme and went with it. I don't know what's not to understand- people also imagined Mordor as a national park, and someone else went with the underworld. They're just made up (or re-used in the case of Mordor) national parks. I think, also, if it said 'please don't feed the deers please' that just wouldn't fit with the shirt, what with the deers being upfront and talking. Or at least, I think would have not been as good as using bears.

What a charming, offbeat design. Also, I'm a writing tutor, and this shirt might prove helpful.

Thanks everyone! I was out of town for the past two days driving to Vermont and back (I actually pulled over when I was on the road and sumbitted the design outside a Subway), and it was nice to get back and read all the comments. I was really happy with this design and it's always especially nice to read quality comments from quality people when it's a design I'm really proud of.

Three things:

You don't have to be an American to get the design, you just have to know what "redundant" means (this actually makes it less likely that an American will get the design). ;)

the animals aren't bears. They're either strange deer or weird creatures that aren't anything.

this is actually a live trace of the dog photo. How did you find it??? I went to google images page 17! I thought no one would figure it out!

I love the fact that it says "bears" when it shows deer-things. I was terribly confused when I first saw it, but then I couldn't help but giggle.
