This is one of the most beautiful (haha, aside from the fact that it's about nose hares) and well executed pieces I've seen lately. Those 'pencil' strokes are fantasmal. Did I mention I have a VERY soft spot for old-style(those strokes!!) artwork? Not to mention, I'm in love with portraits adorned in gold frames. You just hit all the right spots with me here!

HAHA agreed. I would definitely buy this, even if it were only to get that confused, disgusted, and secretly amused look from everyone. And yeah, maybe I would get hit. But it would be worth it. This is so hilarious. Well played. It would not be nearly as funny if it were more modern looking - the old victorian style with the frame is perfect. I wish I had more than one vote to give!

I think it will be more appropriate printed elsewhere. Maybe on a bookmark or something. For a shirt it is a bold one and not everyone is ready to wear it out.

But truly, stunning, fabulous illustration skill. And tons of effort, too! I salute you!

Agreed. It is odd for a shirt. Extremely odd. Really a little disturbing... I think that's what I like about it =) ha, when I think about what people's reactions might be to this crazy shirt, it just makes me want it.

Re: Nose Hares

I could see this as part of a series of portraits in a really kooky kids book. I can picture the whole layout of the book, and even the texture of the pages.
A series of 10 or 12 very odd portraits of very odd ancestors, being described by a child of perhaps... 5 to a visiting friend.

Anyhow- just this thought I keep coming back to every time I see this one!

It is absolutely wonderful art- but I just couldn't wear it on a shirt. But, would LOVE it on the shelf, with the other wonderful children's books I have there.

I think the execution here is plenty sound, and there's no questioning the quality of the artwork; it's a matter of taste, really. I like this design. It's completely absurd. ... arent you a smartypants... fine its not a statement with two conflicting words right after one another, but in terms of literary effect it is an oxymoron. if something is funny, then it should be worn on a shirt imo. so for me, yes even in my opinion, it is oxymoronic. a funny unwearable shirt is an oxymoron i think, but others may not choose their shirts based on humor, so for them its not an oxymoron. i hope that clears things up, and i was a fool for not elaborating more here on the internet. but good to see you felt commenting on that was important, and hopefully any other people unsatisfied with the poor execution of my previous comment now feel more complete as persons

I met with a big group of people last night who are all voters here. They all agreed that this was a wonderful piece of art, but none of them wanted to 'wear' it :\. I think there's something about it that is a turn-off to some people as an actual shirt to wear around, as they fear it may offend people. It is a stellar illustration though, hands down the nicest actual art piece this derby.

The question of "wearability" is disputable... I mean, I can see where someone would say that this is an odd design to wear on a shirt. And that's one of the things I like most about it. But despite what people say about the wearability, it deserves votes based on pure artistic talent. And when you think about it, this shirt is going to spread so much more happiness and laughter than a lot of other shirts in this derby.

So spread the joy, everyone! Vote for this beauty =P

To be fair, my tastes lean more toward odd designs like this one, so I might not be one to talk. However, I think people who are concerned as to how shirts like this will be received by others will be surprised. I trotted out "I Just Called" the other day to much amusement from my friends. "The Walrus and the High-Wheeler" always gets compliments and laughs. Odd, clever designs are awesome!

I think there's something about it that is a turn-off to some people as an actual shirt to wear around, as they fear it may offend people. It is a stellar illustration though, hands down the nicest actual art piece this derby.

I'd be all about wearing it - it's a great conversation starter, and the rabbits are so happy and cute they totally counter the gross factor.
