I loved watching this develop in the forums. And the exclamation point is a priceless touch! gmv!

It certainly developed quite a bit, glad you enjoyed the process. And very glad to hear you like the exclamation point - it was one thing I was privately unsure of. Thanks Draug!

i am glad you didn't put this on blue now because there are already 4 blues in the fog.

although, originally i thought baby blue for the sky, but what would it look like on navy for the night sky? hmmm....

(Taking a look)... you're right, how about that? It's a blue fog!

I actually did try navy and it looked good(though the movement lines needed to be a light color), but I wasn't sure if it should be a night scene - I did some baby owl video research, and interestingly it seemed like all flying attempts were in the day. Of course, that could just have been when the videos were taken.
It's funny too... most of the videos they pretty much just fall out of the tree and crash into the ground... poor owlies.

Check this video where one actually manages to fly... they are sooo cute!! Mid-way through they start bobbing their heads around and it is adorable! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a5MSlNfo4c

I didn't? I did make a a number of changes, some based on suggestions. But maybe that's different than overthinking things. Either way, thank you very much!

Thanks EclecticMuse, glad you love the design and like the olive choice

bookworm656 wrote:Love the design, don't love the ugly color.
Thanks bookworm 656! Sorry you don't like the color... I had put a handful of color options in the pre-derby threads and olive is what got the most votes. If you'd like to give an opinion on designs before they are submitted, try to come to the derby thread on Thursday evening/night and Friday morning, many designers are asking for color preferences and other design choices in there: )

I really like this on olive. And I like the Woot olive shirts. But I wish the Woot template was a little closer to the actual shirt color. It's got to be rough trying to make a design that will look good on the template and on the actual shirt.

I enjoyed this shirt. Then I watched the video that you linked. Now I love it :-)
It's a really fun take on the reality. It's well done, and I think very wearable.
And, as HalfWheat said- the Olive shirt is MUCH prettier then the olive template!
+1

Thanks halfwheat! I don't actually own an olive shirt yet, so I don't even know what the real color is, but I've definitely heard a lot about the differences. I do try to keep it in mind whenever I design on these errant colors.

Aww, glad you like the video!Although in that one, the owl actually manages to fly! Check out this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkYgj_u1cP0... this is how they try to get back up the tree when they still can't fly, though this guy didn't make it, at the end he falls again, poor fella!
So glad you like my take, I watched a lot of videos when I was thinking about the shirt. And glad to hear the olive shirt is prettier than the template!=)

What can I say? I <3 owls! I do love a lot of animals, but there are some that I find especially adorable! People keep suggesting owl designs various derbies from time to time, and since I love them (and drawing them), I'm happy to oblige

The olive is pretty dark, so black doesn't show up as well as it does on the template. You've pretty much taken care of that by highlighting your black lines with the green that should show up pretty well.

I like the actual olive better than the template olive.

Heheh. Sometime ago I decided to go grad school, and now it's taking up most of my time . BUT!!! I'm secretly taking an art class (Drawing 100 ) to sharpen me drawing skillz. Hopefully I'm getting better. And the class is really fun. Maybe I shoulda been an art major instead, hahah.

@halfwheat - yup, I kept that in mind! I am curious to what the actual olive shirt looks like...it's nice to hear that you prefer it to the template.

@imsochady - ooohhh so that's where you went! Well secret(sort of) art classes are a nice perk! What are you actually majoring in?

@laurenfidler - Great, glad to hear it!

@icymallard - Thanks again, and glad you like the expression and the olive: )

Wow, this derby is really great! There are a BUNCH of shirts I would actually wear, this one being a prime example.

It's a shame none of them are going to win. :/
