Re: Death Rain
The dragon and the unicorn are nature's harshest enemies. When they work together, it's ever harsher. What's the far-off tasty guitar solo you hear? It's your doom, son.
Now on asphalt...where it belongs

hahaha
This sweetness also has my vote.
Re: Death Rain
The awesomeness of this shirt is making me bow down at my desk in humble adoration. If I wear this shirt my cool factor goes up?
pbutlerj wrote:The awesomeness of this shirt is making me bow down at my desk in humble adoration. If I wear this shirt my cool factor goes up?
Only if we get it printed. There's a shortage of penguins in this one, so i'm already at a disadvantage
Re: Death Rain
add a lyger and you'd have the trifecta!
Re: Death Rain
i really hope you win! i soo would buy this in an instant!
Re: Death Rain
Normally speaking, I wouldn't be seen dead in a unicorn shirt. But this however... it would be a positive delight to be seen dead in this. Love it to death!
Re: Death Rain
As I said on the previous entry (Orange Shirt), this design is the most EPIC of the derby - on the Epic level of the X-Treme Nat. Park shirt (that I hope does well in the double-take derby and gets printed!)
Re: Death Rain
i like that the dragon has wings too
Re: Death Rain
haha i like this. GMV, but further consideration will be needed if it does print before i buy it

I totally agree...I would buy one of these for every type of situation: casual, sleep, apocalypse, zombie attack, and formal.
LARL! I seriously want this...I think I want this as much as some folks want the exploding bear shirt.. I will dream of a world where the two marry and live happily ever after...in my tshirt drawer.
PRINT PRINT PRINT!!! ;_;

I don't know that this is the right crowd for this design. It's all snuggly bunnies and penguins to these people. I should know. i won once with little pink stick horses.
Re: Death Rain
I've crunched the numbers and found it's mathematically impossible to make this design any more epic. Great job!

Maybe there should be an offshoot of Shirt.Woot: Epic.Shirt.Woot. :D Round the clock explosions and electric guitars. I could definately dig it...

I like the cut of your jib, friend
I have to say, I own a fair number of woot shirts, but very few are from derbies, because, well, people vote for really cancellation shirts. This, however, is about the most ridiculous and pointless shirt I have ever seen (and I mean that in a good way). I am very, very sad about how this shirt will probably not print.
Re: Death Rain
This shirt is absolutely, incredibly, amazingly, terrifically, intensely, superlatively, awesomely, ridiculously, wildly, terribly, greatly, supercalifragilistically, WONDERFUL!!!
It has my entire bad writing adverb list.
It also has my vote.
Great job. ![]()
Re: Death Rain
Sweet! I'm glad you added dragon wings and took the distress off. GMV
(hehe people sure get exited, don't they?)
Re: Death Rain
I...need...this shirt.
Please print. Please. If not here...somewhere!
Re: Death Rain
Awesome shirt and creative. I want this!
SydsKid wrote:I...need...this shirt.

Agreed! Hell, if I had the money, I'd donate just so the artist could get this printed on their own.
I'm going to come here every day and express my love for this shirt. I apologize for the annoyance ahead of time... XD~~~
Re: Death Rain
Wow, so majestic!
I want this so bad.
I must have it.

Yeah i guess i didn't include enough animals that can't fly but somehow find the means to. I mean, those are really inspiring afterall

It's a shame really. This shirt deserves so much more respect than it's getting. I am totally in agreeance with what someone else said that we need an epic.shirt.woot wesite where things like this and the Xtreme national park can flourish. Let me know if you find a way to print this. I would buy it for sure.
I would buy this in a second too, wish I had more than one vote to give!
Re: Death Rain
Words cannot express my unfathomable love for this shirt. Even with no job, I would happily shell out whatever $10 I can scrape together just for the privilege of owning this masterpiece.
Re: Death Rain
Have I mentioned yet that I really want this shirt? Cause I do.

Where else can i take it? I mean, i know woot kinda owns this design for the next 60 days or whatever, but once that passes...what do you think? it's not artsy enough for threadless
Re: Death Rain
By the way, i don't want to sound ungrateful to everyone here who has said such nice things about this design. I am very appreciative of the support...i just can't help but be snarky sometimes. Human emotion makes me uncomfortable

i agree, this will be a close second to my favorite woot submission ever (that also didnt print):

That is what wearing this shirt would tell the world, I think. Which is why it is awesome.
"Your human emotions make me uncomfortable. I would rather rain death upon them. This unicorn doesn't f*ck around, man. And that dragon? He gave his soul to ROCK."

Though i could never even hope to touch on his style and particular brand of genius, i actually had edgar in mind when i started this. I take your having linked to his work in relation to mine as a very high compliment. How he feels is something else entirely.

You might try opening a MySoti shop. It isn't the instant gratification that you get if you win here, but it's an option, and it gives your fans a place to go to buy your work!
Check out MySoti.com and read about them. My friend and I are considering starting up there. While I'd love to win here, I just can't help but feel it's like running on ice. 9_9 (momentary whining, sorry, sorry)
There's a TON of stuff that I want to buy here that never makes it. I'd love to just buy it outright without having to worry about a voter system. And, bonus, if you use a place like MySoti, you keep your art rights. Winning here has the sacrafice in that your design is dead forever after it reckons. ;_; You can never use it again unless you change it up 20%, which can be hard to do in some cases. (this design is way perfect as is)
I've been doing a lot of reserach lately on tees to try and find other avenues, and there are many options out there other than Woot, Threadless, etc. Also, you should try some other tee venues, you never know! If you want my list of places to try drop me a pm ^^
Also....and I know I have said this...but I seriously want this shirt. I'm very sad it wont make it here. Id be willing to pay double the Woot price for it easily.
Re: Death Rain
This is pretty good.

Are you kidding?? As far as I can tell, you're doing extremely well in the Derbies in general. Yeah, okay, you haven't printed yet, but you just came in a very close 4th in the last Derby, and you've had multiple Honorable Mentions now. And you haven't even been here that long. Lots of artists here would LOVE to be in your shoes. And you're whining about "not doing well"? Wow.
Your designs usually impress me, but I gotta say that your attitude rarely does.

I agree completely. It has taken over a year for some very talented artists to print here and they weren't complaining the entire way. They simply kept submitting good, quality work and eventually grabbed a print. This continuous whining about not winning derby after derby by bass after only entering 6 derbies or so (and receiving HMs on more than one piece) really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and just screams 'entitlement issues'.

Sorry you (and many others) feel the need to judge me personally based on a couple months of "ShirtWoot derbying". Ahh the internets... I'm sorry for my 'tude, which I appologized for up there in my original post. It was just a momentary vent..which is ohheeemgee unforgivable here, I forgots! I'll make it better, here:
HAPPY TREE FRIENDS! YAY! BALLOONS!
If you wish to continue to state your thoughts about me, please pm, and let this artist's thread get back to his design :D.
Also, I'm -extraordinarily- thankful for the support I get here...just you know. ^_~
Re: Death Rain
I said it before and I'll say it again.
I NEED this shirt. I can't express how much I must have this shirt.
I also echo the sentiment that I would gladly pay double for this shirt, so great is my love for it.
Print it, PM me, and I will buy.

No one should expect to win. Want to win? Sure. Hope to win? Sure. But no one here is that much better than anyone else that they should expect to win. Even the most popular designers go for many weeks without getting close to a win. So someone relatively new who does well, gets lots of praise and wins a couple HMs and then posts about how they should be doing better is going to garner some negative reaction. Maybe the posts aren't meant to sound that way. But that's how they come across. That there's an entitlement to a win. No one is entitled to a win. If it happens, it happens. But complaining about not winning yet isn't going to win more fans.
dragndrop wrote:But complaining about not winning yet isn't going to win more fans.
I'm a fan of Bassanimation, for what it's worth. I would like to be friends and subscribe to her newsletter

I think what they are saying is actually "you've done well, and better designers have taken longer than you to win, so shut the hell up and stop being a baby"
The designer has all but said she is here solely for a paycheck, and complaining that she hasn't won in a whole month of submitting kinda cements that.
I know I've said this, but I must say it again.
I NEEDS TO OWN THIS SHIRT!!
....I can not believe that this much awesomeness can be in one image.
Also, it reminds me of this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDS6UQpssSg
I know it's kindof a stretch, but still.
Hahaha very funny. I like the style fits with the dragons vs. unicorn cliché. And a nice way to use the flight theme.
I believe it is worth mentioning that this is a Pegasus Unicorn. Alternatively, a pegacorn or a unisus.
....Which is more badass than a just a unicorn or just a pegasus, because it has wings like a pegasus and the horn of a unicorn.
See:
Unicorn:
Note the horn.
Pegasus:
Note the wings!
Pegacorn / Unisus / Unicorn Pegasus:
Note both the wings, and horn!
This makes it twice as good as a normal horse.

I. Would. Totally. Have. Bought. This. Shirt. Print.
Best thing I have seen in a derby so far.
Given the derby context, maybe if the guitar had been a "flying V" it would have done better...
